Jesus, it's like Eir are slipping back to the days of old with that agent's attitude…

Does GoMo bill everyone on 1st of the month?

Just wondering what’s the story on signup with the €12.99 Activation Cost.

Is it best to order the SIM on the 1st December, so that the next monthly €12.99 is a month away?

I’m thinking ,if I order a sim today, will I get charged again on the 1st December?

Im currently on 14.99 with GoMo a month. I asked the chat agent and they say there is no way an existing customer can avail of the 12.99 offer. Then I saw ClearMobile with their 9.99 offer. AFAIK both Eir and Vodafone have good coverage in my area so Im strongly thinking about moving to ClearMobile instead. Anyone feel the same?

I contacted them re the 12.99 displaying on my account too and got the same response re it being an error.

Could you buy another sim for your account and pay the 12.99 activation fee. Then move your number from your 14.99 account sim to the 12.99 one and then cancel the 14.99 one?

Paying for 30 days notice and a new activation fee would be 27.98, so it would be over 14 months to recoup the outlay I would guess??

I would go with clear but the Vodafone 5g coverage is a bit unreliable around my area and I read that it's throttled to a max 25gb download rate.

You wouldn't be able to do that but you could maybe port out to a different network (free SIM with Lyca or 48) and port back in.

Clear Mobile is not limited, people have posted 1Gb/s speed tests. All networks have those theoretical max speeds listed in their T&Cs.

Hi. Is it possible to change a name on an account with gomo?.

I got a SIM for my daughter to use. It's in my name though so I'm thinking that going forward it would be better in her own name.

I don't want to have to get her a new number

Hi all - currently trying to switch from a work Vodafone account to a personal GOMO account whilst keeping my existing number. Three questions (and apologies because I'm not very techy at all):

1). Current phone is eSim. I requested a GOMO eSim, and as I work through the activation process I notice i am being told that my mobile number is different from my current one. But I asked to keep my existing number? Will I end up up with two numbers?

    2) Another message says that my existing number will move across to GOMO on 1st December? Does this switch still happen if I am applying for a GOMO eSim?

    3) Is there an actual person I can physically talk to? Or how can I get an agent on the Chat function/ (All I'm getting at the moment is a bot which is useless).

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers

Just login to your MyGoMo account, go to Account Details > Move My Number > follow the instructions

The port will happen straight away instead of waiting until the 1st. No need to worry about the temporary number, it will switch to your number once the port is complete.

To get an agent in the online chat, instead of a Bot, type 'agent' and one should come online for you.

Could I ask a few (stupid) questions here? As I've only ever been on billpay, and am currently paying a small fortune to Vodafone because it just works - coverage, roaming, reliability - all the things I need - but I'm thinking I really should move if this one will work for me…. I had a terrible experience with 3 before, so bad they actually let me leave while still in contract, and I've been with VF ever since, terrified of that happening again.

Is it easy to keep my existing number? (I assume it is, I've had it since my very first mobile across many networks). How much hassle is it to port across? I'm a bit thick when it comes to the likes of this stuff!

I'm guessing they piggyback on a network - which one do they use? I'm in Dublin, but travel a fair bit in Ireland and abroad, so need good widespread coverage

Is there a fair usage limit, and if there is does anyone know what it is? I do a fair bit of streaming, VF give actual unlimited data so just a bit wary of hitting limits.

How does payment work? Is it a monthly or four-weekly direct debit, or do I have to remember to make the payments?

I've seen conflicting messages about roaming - is UK included in EU roaming (which I understand has to be same as your home allowance?) - what's the limit for roaming? is it a daily limit or a billing-period limit?

Anything else I need to consider?

As I say, I just need my phone to work, and know it will work - have been happy enough to pay the extortionate bills to VF up to now, but if this will give the same result……

    Thanks!

You can go gomo (owned by eir, 12.99) or clear (owned by vodafone, 9.99). Both work the same, just different networks.

You port your number, easy peasy

    No fair usage limit

Payment is monthly from a card on your account.

Roaming, UK is included in the 19Gb monthly roaming EU limit. Gomo is calendar month, clear is whatever your billing dates are.

If you are happy with VF, then go with clear.

gomo account showed 12.99, but after blackfriday deal went back to 14.99. Feel cheated. I will be switching cause it's dishonest.

Aer you a new signup or a previous 14.99 person? If it's the latter, there's a few posts about this already

Are there different APNs to try for gomo? Noticing much slower speeds since moving to Gomo and want to try before jumping ship to Clear before the offer on the 9th.

It's within 14 days so I presume I get a refund of the activation fee?

There's just "data.myeirmobile.ie" afaik. No, I don't think the activation fee is refunded, as it's an activation fee and not a usage charge. They won't charge you for the days you've used the service.

Just checked my GoMo sim and can confirm that it's set to data.myeirmobile.ie

Got this whilst doing some random speed tests today on my travels.

Although not as fast as I've seen on ClearMobile, nonetheless it's still impressive enough imho

I see the 12.99 GoMo offer is back. I asked about existing customers. No can do. I said that Clear Mobile has the same offer with a free month, as well. GoMo rep just said that it's similar to their offer for new customers.

Not much of a retention policy with them!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,363 ✭✭✭NotShero

You could probably port out to e.g. 48/Lyca and port back in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,148 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

The comments on FB are interesting, they just keep rattling off their new customer line.

    That's interesting.

There's no end date showing that I can see either.

I wonder will that prompt ClearMobile to reintroduce the €9.99 price.
