Kindred is getting very popular now. It’s a more affordable and IMO better managed version of home exchange. It’s easy to search what’s available for location and date range, gain credits for indirect swaps, and arrange direct swaps.

For those of you unfamiliar, Kindred is a members only home swapping platform which is now fairly large globally. To join you need to be invited by an existing member and be approved (it’s pretty straight forward). The big caveat is you have to host your own place.

There is a low nightly fee for staying in another home to cover cleaning cost (€40-70). For your own home they provide linens and towels and even come in to make beds before your guest arrive, and clean and put your own bedding on before you return - it’s pretty sweet and I’ve had great experiences so far.

When you sign up you’ll get 5 nights credits to be able to book another home, and then you gain credits for every night someone stays at your place.
