DNA tests and DNA samples for US trips for all travellers / tourists?

Just wondering would DNA tests and DNA samples of everyone be required for future trips to the US? - even for 90 days visa waver tourists?

Would travel to the US go down and travellers feel the US is going too far for asking for a DNA sample of every traveller?

I wouldn't see it impossible to do, if it was streamlined. Two or three agents more, and databases would do the job easily. They could also require DNA samples when the ESTA is approved every 5 years or so?

Back in 1990 the Human Genome Project was to take 15 years and $3Bn

Current fastest whole genome sequencing is 4 hours and if you can wait a bit longer it's down to $100 in bulk.

So still only for medical reasons or persons of interest. For now.

We used to hold onto a blood sample of everyone born in the state. At $100 a pop it would have cost half a billion to enable a police state though if used properly it might have more impact on public health than the Children's Hospital. But we have Data Protection here.

Approx 70,000 foreigners enter the US daily.

Just think of the logistics of 70,000 daily DNA samples.

You could probably multiple your 2 agents by a factor of 1000.

Not if you do it prior to entry with the ESTA application. The current US doesn't care if people have to go the extra mile, queue somewhere else, even let them all pay for the activity…. And budget there would be more than enough and Trump is determined with a whatever it takes attitude what illegal immigration is concerned.

Another option might be a security deposit for visitors of say 5000 to 10000 Euros, only to be returned if one actually returns home….

You may laugh at my opinion now, but i'd say in 3 to 5 years it might be reality. Trump might even be president in 5 years…
