Noticed a burning smell in the kitchen. This dishwasher seems the culprit. I unplugged it. Plug seems bulged out at the fuse , socket a bit brown as a result. Any idea what caused this and how do I remedy it. A new plug required ? Will the socket be ok? Thanks

Problem is most likely due to a bad connection in the plug - probably a wire not tightly screwed in.

Dump the plug and replace it. Cut a few centimetres from the end of the wire and fit a new plug, ensuring it is properly wired.

If you're not confident about this get a competent person to do it.

Open the plug to see what's going on with the fuse - bad/loose connection on the fuse causing to overheat

Replace the plug and maybe the socket

It looks to be a moulded plug top , so no opening there , as the others have said air on the side of caution and replace both. How old is the dishwasher ? is it working as normal ?

dishwasher is about 2.5 years old. No issues until this evening. Thanks for the advice I’ll get an electrician for the job

Really no point paying someone a small fortune to replace the socket if you are in anyway a little bit of DIY-er. Isolate the socket or turn off the main fuse switch, you're only replacing the faceplate and swapping the wires

Looks to be the fuse holder alright. I think that the socket is fine as it's just cosmetic damage to it.

Plug needs replacing for sure. I wonder if the cause of the overheating is a low rated fuse - 5A perhaps? OP, can you remove the fuse from the plug and see if it's a 13A or lower?

I will do. Gave me a fright as it’s a fairly new machine
