Would have been great to get notice of these works. Multiple closures. Added 1 hour to my drive home. Park full from Connyngham Road to Chesterfield Avenue

According to DCC Road Closures it will be until Wednesday evening.

Yeah I googled it when I got home. But I drove that road in and out to work every day last week and there were no signs warning of upcoming closures. Nothing on Connyngham road either and diversions bring you past the West County and back around to Connyngham Road. I turned into the park at the earliest opportunity in the way back in so not sure how far in the diversion signs actually bring you. I'd have paid the toll rather than sit not moving for so long

I find getting in or out D15 bad most of time these days.

Just be grateful the County Council and DCC aren't closing the route indefinitely. I suspect the OPW are looking at closing the Knockmaroon entrance to the park at some point in the future. The councils need to be seen as making progress on their green agenda even as wider Government continues to approve more data centres and expand capacity at Dublin Airport.

Therefore, giving sufficient notice for these works wouldn't be a priority for them. You would think they are supposed to be in the business of making Fingal/ Dublin City work for all families, not just the Green crowd.

Thanks for the heads up, was wondering why traffic through the Phoenix Park was so heavy this evening, walking pace at best from 18:00.

Never realised Chapelizod was Dublin 20

I had actually planned to go via Chapelizod main Street and onto knockmaroon from there but the main Street is local access only until Wednesday

Linking the Dublin airport cap, data centres and appeasement of the ‘green crowd’ to a completely speculative closure of Knockmaroon gate is some leap of imagination. Badly timed and poorly advertised resurfacing is what it is, they did the Tower Road at night to allow access to Mt Sackville & the park which maintained a route out of D15 during peak hours, they should have done the same in to Chapelizod but didn’t want to pay the extra €€€
