It's likely that those writing to the papers never actually watched it, like the folks in the "down with this sort of thing" episode.

    Well of course not!!!

Unlikely to have allowed "British filth" like Channel 4 into their home in the first place, so they had no means to see it, when they were trying to keep it off RTE.

Actually this sort of clamour about films or TV always starts before they're even released, so can't have been seen by them…

We're probably talking about people who felt switching to RTE 2 was a bit too adventurous.

I was only half joking - I have been in a house where inquiring into the possibility of changing from RTE1, where the offering was crap, to RTE2 elicited a "why would you want to do that" response.

Whenever someone posts a link to a media site I don't know, I check it its political leaning on allsides.com or similar.

    Teen vogue.jpg

I had to go to Brietbart to get a more extreme score. Fox News scored -4.0 😀

Yale university staff are 77% democrat v 3% Republican registered.

The chances of a review by the above educational institution and being published in the above media site being an independent review are about as low as me competing in the Tour de France next year

Teen vogue is gone now anyway, just in recent days. And some of the staff reacted in typical activist fashion and accosted the HR executive who was tasked with announcing the decision, and ended up immediately fired. They need to read the room, most people are done with this shite. It really is a weird bubble at this stage. Teen vogue, of all media outlets, does not need to "stand up to the Trump administration" as one of them said. Get a grip.

To add, it's actually galling to me that a media outlet that made me and my peers feel like fat pigs in the 2000s for being over a size 8 are now going to bat for the idea that men are women. I was young and I starved myself to fit into what they said was acceptable, they can't claim any moral superiority whatsoever. If any woman back then had shown any masculine trait they would have lampooned her for it.

Let's remind ourselves this thread is about: an Irish person being arrested, held for several hours and under threat of prosecution for weeks after arriving from the U.S. on suspicion of upsetting some people with his social media posts.

Whatever you say don't upset anyone?

Very true but with one important reservation: my dad, god rest him, used to say back then that he couldn't understand why the fashion industry seemed to find only women who looked like teenage boys attractive.

I, of course, at the time thought he was an unenlightened idiot. But now it seems somewhat plausible to me that maybe that pressure on young women to starve themselves into looking like 13 year old boys was not entirely unrelated to the way certain adults now seem so keen to push the "need" for puberty blockers onto either boys or girls?
