Mybmi.ie and Mounjaro price increase!

A cost saving tip if anyone is going to sign up to mybmi.ie but are put off by the cost, especially in light of recent news of Ely Lilly increasing the cost of Mounjaro. If you have health insurance, you can generally claim money back for the consultation if you submit it to your health insurer under GP fees. Also you can claim back 20% of all qualifying medical expenses (Mounjaro and Wegovy are approved medical expense) through Revenue (you can apply through MyAccount). For me personally, this has reduced my weekly cost of Mounjaro from €63.50 to just under €30.

Obviously one thing to consider if you decide to use mybmi.ie for Mounjaro specifically, is that the prices are due to increase drastically on September 1st. So if cost is an issue, you should consider Wegovy. But if you decide to go with Mounjaro, mybmi.ie are currently allowing customers to do 3 consecutive consultations + prescriptions before September 1st to try and mitigate the price hike for their customers.

Also for those who are thinking of signing up to Mybmi.ie, my code is 83022Sally20free for €20 off ..and I get a cheeky €20 off too 😉😊

How much does a gym membership, serious diet changes, or a run or walk in the park cost?

Don't like gyms? Run or walk. Don't like exercising outside or want privacy? Buy an exercise bike/treadmill/walking pad? Too expensive? Buy used, they are all over adverts.ie. Don't like salads, fruit, and vegetables? Keep trying different recipes until you find ones you do like. Problem eating junk? Stop — you are killing yourself — find healthier replacement treats.

That may seem harsh, but your post has nothing to do with nutrition and diet.

I am sure there are people with medical conditions where all things considered these drugs may make sense but for the vast majority of people using drugs to lose weight and opening yourself up the associated medical risks, costs, and dependency, should only be considered as an extreme measure and a very last resort — if at all.

An ignorant, but unfortunately common view - "lazy fatties cheating their way to weight loss". The simple fact is that these drugs do not 'melt fat' or anything like that - you will not lose weight without significant diet changes and/or exercise - basically, exactly the way you say they 'should' lose weight. Why complain if they use a tool to make this a bit easier?

You quote multiple times things I did not say so you can save those arguments for someone else.

As I did actually say, exercise and diet should be enough for the vast majority of people, the 'tool' you mention and that is being promoted is a drug.

I completely agree. This thread sub-forum is about Nutrition and Diet, not medication.

Both @allgoodthings and @AmzL25 are just posting here to promote prescription medication for profit (via referral codes). The use of these type of medications for weight loss is widely promoted on Social Media and is not without risk.

I assume you mean this sub forum rather than thread. Taking drugs to lose weight has nothing to do with nutrition and diet and there should not be any threads about it in this sub, even if affiliate codes and links are not shared.

There's another large thread here on these drugs and I posted similar messages and followed up with links and quotes to multiple research papers that demonstrate the related dangers but this fell on deaf ears.

I think the allure of being able to lose weight easily is too great that it blinds them, though one person posted saying even if they get sick later in life they are happy to pay that price to lose weight.

I am sure there are some people with real medical conditions where these drugs are worth considering but I maintain for the vast majority of people diet and exercise is a much better option than risking the dangers. If you have tried and failed before keep trying, nothing in life worth having comes easy.

Yes, I meant sub-forum. I share your views on this and have reported the posts/posters for both the promotion of prescription drug in this sub-,forum and the use of referral codes on prescription medication. Both should not be allowed or facilitated on Boards.
