I think at this stage you should just ignore anyone with negative views of your watch. You wanted one, you appraised all options and are very happy with what you got. Game set match.

My bit re sm wasn't set in reference against buying Stein hart but just that an emerging Chinese market that easily challenges market norms at lower prices is becoming a valid option.

@H_Lime Absolutely I know that and I 100% agree with you.

I'm definitely targeting a SM for my next buy. But preferably one of their original designs. The spec on these watches is insane for the money. Hard to see a better watch for around the 200 - 350 price range really.

This is sold out but holy moly that looks good.

It seems to me that the trend with San Martin (and other "allieexpress" brands) is the key thing. They are not where they were two years ago, and probably won't be where they are now in two years.

It was poor QC Chinese homage crap…then it was well-built Chinese homages…then it was slightly off designs with questionable elements…now it's well finished original designs lacking the refinement you get from luxury pieces…but the problem with that current assessment is the substantial price difference.

The fallback position we are headed towards in years to come is about politics and ethics, in my opinion, because at this rate of technical improvement, they will be producing seriously well-built, original design pieces with solid movements that outperform microbrand and Swiss alternatives in the sub-€1500 range. They are also doing virtually zero in the way of traditional marketing today, and that will change, too.

That watch is a **** outrageous value proposition. The Swatch Group would charge at least € 1,500 for it.
