the walls surrounding our house have obvious green layer on them but thought house itself was ok until started pressure washing it. Its got alot of fungus on it i reckon. Is it a good idea to put fungicide on before painting. is another layer of hassle as it is a big house but want to do it right and get a few years out of it

    thanks

Walls must be free of algae, fungus etc. before painting. Spray with a suitable fungicide - Algae Rem or similar, and leave for 3 to 4 days before power washing. Walls must be dry when spraying and don't spray if rain is forecast for the following 24 to 48 hours.

Yes, you roll it on as it's not great spraying stuff like fungicide around the place. You can get it in 5l containers down at proper paint shops.

Yes get fungicide, buy the good stuff from a proper paint shop (somewhere you'd see painters vans outside. It's probably more important long term than the paint. Might get you an extra couple of years or more before needing to repaint.

Products that contain Sodium Hypochlorite like household bleach (Domestos etc.) will kill algae, fungus etc. Just dilute with water and spray on with a knapsack sprayer - be sure to wear appropriate PPE It's the cheapest way of doing it but it may not be as effective in penetrating thru the plaster and killing all the roots - something that products like Algae Rem may do.
