They need to look at what the BBC and UK Met Office are doing and copy it verbatim. Use that as a baseline and, in time, inject a bit of “Irishness” into it.

Unfortunately I reckon Met Eireann don't have that sort of budget and RTE just want to pass through the weather as fast as humanly possible to make way for adverts. BBC has no adverts and can give the weather as much time as it wants.

Eventually I see RTE going the way of Sky News, replacing a real weather forecast with just an onscreen map with symbols to a background soundtrack lasting 30 seconds and then more time for adverts.

I hear you. At least they’re putting the front symbols in now. RTE tried to sideline the Met Eireann presenters before but it didn’t work out. Active with media training can read a script. We do get value from the ME people though through their insight at times. The problem now is that it’s just to rushed for that.

It would be nice if Met Éireann would post up up some forecasts on YouTube like the UK Met Office do.

Please check out my varied content on YouTube.com/@jpmarn. That’s includes some weather.

They HAVE to do something about this. I can't get a read of the weather at all.

It's far too quick moving and lots of speech in there aswell.

Screens jumping from one colour to the next I can't keep up. It'll turn dark brown as if for night time and then it'll turn yellow for night time temperatures and then it'll turn this lava colour for daytime temperatures..I think..but then the next day it'll just have the green country map and temperature tags. I can't tell if it's fog, mist, clouds or rain.

The text is too small. The 3 day forecast on the end is smaller and only on for a fraction of the time it was.

I also don't get the regional forecast utility. Ireland is too small to need that.

And I also don't get the localised place names. What difference does it make if you name Kilrush or Shannon on the map?

    This is a mess!

Does anyone have a contact in ME that we could point towards this thread? There’s lots of good feedback here bite and we’ll with an hour of saltiness tube reading through and making notes.
