Saw recommendation for cutting paving slabs

    Hi all

Im hoping you can help me choose the appropriate saw for a job Ive coming up in the next few weeks.

Ive previously used a cheap wet saw before for tiling a few rooms in the house here, floor tiles, wall tiles, of average thickness, nothing too major. The cheap saw worked surprisingly well, apart from drenching me as I used it - it was fine for the money I paid. That was 15 years ago and the saw is long gone.

Ive another DIY job coming up in the next few weeks and I will need to cut 20mm thick porcelain slabs (outdoor paving slabs). Im not sure what saw to choose, and Im not really sure if the cheaper wet saws I see on sale in B&Q etc will suffice.

Would any of you have experience you could share with me on how best to cut these?

Appreciate your help in helping me make a good decision here, as Im sure whatever saw I choose will either make this job easy, or more difficult that it needs to be.

    Thanks!

a angle grinder with a diamond cutting wheel. Works a treat

Thanks Ted1. Using an angle grinder crossed my mind actually - I might just go with this.

Evolution do a nice light electric con saw with a 9 or 12 inch blade, I find porcelain doesn't fare well with a petrol saw and are prone to chipping and cracking from the vibration, I also find con saws easier to use than grinders, but that's personal preference rather than anything else
