What's even more impressive that Arsenal are in this position with all of their strikers out injured and the absolute machine that is Gabriel also out injured. Add to that Odegaard, Martinelli and Madueke only back to their first game.

Don't think any team out there could cope with multiple top players out for prolonged periods and sustain such quality...

Well deserved win. Set pieces caused havoc all night and Arsenal had much better chances from open play, too.

1st half was glossed over a bit by possession percentage and that fantastic goal, but even then Arsenal looked more dangerous IMO. When Bayern lost possession in the 2nd half there was only going to be one winner. Arsenal's defending was excellent, Raya had to make one save all night.

Only thing I take solace from is you cant win the CL in November.

Kazakh doesn't do daylight savings. So they are now 5 hours ahead whereas for previous group games they were 4 hours ahead. I guess the standard early ko time of 17.45 our time (22:45 their time) would be too dangerous for fans in a harsh winter climate.

What a finish by Karl, bloody hell. Kid's looked unreal for 17.

Ruled out for offside for something earlier in the move, but his part in it was pure class.

ridiculous how long that handball took. as clear as day

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,439 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

Seems a harsh one to chalk that one off for Liverpool.

Var is a joke...it was an obvious handball..cant understand why it took so long to decide that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,322 ✭✭✭✭8-10

Let's see how many minutes added on at half time

Ball went out for a corner at 28:16

Liverpool take the corner and score a goal (10 seconds in play)

Goal chalked off, game restarts at 36:14

A full 8 minutes from corner given to game restarting

Add to that 2 Inter Milan injuries resulting in substitutions and 1 injury to Robertson taking nearly a combined 4mins

10mins added on would be too little

Keith Tracey commentating on Atalanta v Chelsea.

Atalanta player was hobbling a bit after a challenge.

Tracey : “He got a knee into the top of his leg, possibly the arse”

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,322 ✭✭✭✭8-10

7mins. Joke. VAR yet again stealing time from games and everyone will come out saying how amazing it is to be able to come to a correct decision in mere minutes after a million replays.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 1,439 ✭✭✭JohnySwan

The ball was headed from a short distance onto his arm, hardly deliberate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,891 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Never said deliberate but an obvious handball...just cant understand how it took so long to come to the correct decision..Var can be a joke sometimes

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,322 ✭✭✭✭8-10

It's astonishing how long it takes. It's ruining enjoyment of the game. This isn't the first time it's happened in this campaign, the Liverpool v Real Madrid game had a similar one.

I think the UEFA version of VAR has managed to be even worse than the PL one!

I have no idea what a handball is anymore, no way should a goal be ruled out for that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,891 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Really poor ball by Wirtz there...that was a real chance

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,322 ✭✭✭✭8-10

If this is a penalty I give up. Embarrassing that this could be given

That's nearly as soft a penalty as the one given against Szobozlai against Galastary

Bit of a lucky penalty, there was a very clear pull on the jersey but we'll take it.

    Szob fairly buries it !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,891 ✭✭✭DellyBelly

Surprised it was given...100% dive by Wirtz. No way did that jersey pull cause him to go to ground...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,166 ✭✭✭EltonJohn69

it’s a dive, player should be booked, the delayed reaction is shameful

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 777 ✭✭✭mjsc1970

Definite pull on the shirt but an exaggerated fall AFTER the defender let go. Which makes the whole thing look silly. Don't know what the defender was doing but he gave var something to look at. The eejit.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,194 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

This 100%. Defender pulls the jersey, Wirtz makes the most of it and VAR has to make a decision.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,880 ✭✭✭Did you smash it

are we still saying things like this? Most fouls are received with an exaggerated reaction. But they are still fouls.

The Gnoto one at the weekend was a dive. He could have just jumped out of konate’s challenge easily but it was still a foul.

If an English player had done it, the pundits would say it was clever play.

Defender clearly pulls the jersey - makes VAR make a decision.

Inter had an 18 European home unbeaten run.

Liverpool looked fairly solid for most of the game.

Overall, a great win for Liverpool.

Had Salah kept his nouth shut, he may have come on with 20 to and actually taken the pen.

I don't get how the ref wasn't looking at Wirtz in that exact moment, it's where the ball was
