I want to get some of my own equipment - batteries and inverter - since no installers around here offer them, or charge a lot more.

Would it be possible to get any installer even install these, or are they all tied to their own product?

Usually installers would go with there own equipments, due to warranty, configurations, etc.
I had the same problem and ended on buying and installing most of the solar system myself.
Had a roofing company to put the PV panels on the roof and did all the electrical work myself. Found an electrician to check and validate the installation and connect it to main fuse board using a RCBO.
I went with the a Deye inverter and Waiting for a battery to arrive from China.
If you already have a solar system in place with a NC6 approved probably looking for an electrician to replace what you have is a better option.
Or find an electrician to do the install from zero.
Would be really hard finding one, but there are out there registered electrician who will take a job like this.
    Just keep looking.
    Best of luck.

P.S. What brand of equipment do you want to install?
