What is your oldest GAA jersey? Jersey Discussion

I have this old 1998 Dublin jersey. Don’t have the heart to throw it out.

Not as pristine as one of 2002 original I saw an Armagh fan with the last day. He said he hardly wore it.
My auld fella has an old Galway Tommy Varden jersey that I got him. Hardly worn basically as new, because he prefers to attract less attention wearing something with a bit of maroon in it. It must be 2000 ish.

As far as the start of the stylish jerseys in my mind the Wexford footballers were the first must be mid 2000’s with a two tone job.

In 20 years or so I think the current Louth jersey will still hold its own.

Even the current Louth “training jersey” deserves a mention. They are obviously putting as much effort into their jerseys as they are with their football!

Dublin jersey 1991 from the Dublin / Meath saga. No sponsor on it but if memory serves me by the time the fourth game came around Dublin had Arnotts in small writing on the jersey.

I have a players jersey from the last game in that saga. As you say it was the 4th game when sponsors came in and it was O'Reilly transport for Meath. In the next round it was Kepak so O'Reillys were the sponsors for that game only.

They were great days Paul. Only having a sponsor for the one game is really unique. Kepak were there for a few years if I remember. I actually wore the jersey on Saturday v Cork and the amount of fellas come up to you and try guess the year. You should wear it for the Galway game 😊

I’ve an 1984 Kerry jersey from my youth signed by the great Jack O’Shea .

I’m a Louth man , and have a replica 1957 all Ireland final jersey signed by 6 or 7 of the winning team ( not many of the men left now ) .

We wore green of Leinster that day to avoid clashing with Cork colours.
