Medical card form; spouses living together, does that make one a Dependant or not?

I find that ambiguous (on the form, and in any guidelines I can find). What I'm not sure about is whether to tick yes or no to 'Will your dependants (if you have any) attend this doctor?'

It's just the two of us in this house. I'm the wife (and chief form-filler!). We both receive the same level of non-contributory state pension, and have about the same amount of savings. The only difference is that (a) we decided years ago on Husband as the principal applicant for medical cards, and that seems to be set in stone as far as they're concerned, and (b) he receives an additional, smaller pension from the UK (from a few times in "proper" jobs in between self-employment).

We have no dependants, and are unlikely to acquire any, especially in this country, let alone with the same doctor. (We're pushing 80, with no family connections in Ireland; and our UK ones are now all younger than us).

Husband reckons that 'if you have any' means the answer should be Yes. But I'd be pretty confident about No. And have been driven to fury many times over the years by badly designed forms (if that's the problem here, rather than just me!).

I think it’s referring to children but may include spouse. Can phone their helpline to ask.

    Thanks!

I know they'll answer queries (and they have already answered a couple I had). But with our phone signal very weak, it was an email job, which took a while. I just wanted to get the form posted while our documentation is still recent enough.

Got the form completed yesterday (along with a full waste-paper basket!), got the doctor's signatures etc today, and will post it tomorrow.

Had a faint memory of omitting the cents from our savings figures (for more clarity/legibility), and it looks as if we did that last time, so I've assumed it's the correct way.
