hey, does anyone know if HEO roles within public sector are usually kept for internal employees even if I can see the job advertised on public jobs.ie. Basically I’m next on the panel for a hr Eo role and the job advertised is a hr heo so I’m hoping after some internal movement I might be called. Or because it’s advertised externally does that mean no no internally applied?

If I understand you correctly, yes people currently in EO roles could be in line for those HEO spots. So if you're next in line for an EO position there could be an opening. Internal people can go for an Open HR HEO role.

ok thanks, I was just wondering because the HEO role is advertised externally, whereas I thought those roles were usually given to internal candidates. This would help my chances of getting the EO role (as I’m next on the panel and am external) if one of the internal candidates moves up, however if an external candidate gets the role, it won’t really help my chances.

it’s very generic, doesn’t specify you need public sector experience just that you need 5 years experience in working in a busy environment
