Which do you prefer for a girl irish name

Líadan (Lee a din/dan) or Líadan ( with fada pronounced on last a so sounds like (Lee a dawn )I think u can still pronounce it Lee a dawn without actually putting the fáda on the last a [Líadán)

Any experience with ppl you know with this name

As someone with one fada in my name I can't imagine having to deal with two!

The second version sounds too much like amadán....(Apologies to any Líadáns out there)

Would you consider Madison or Hunter?

I've not heard it pronounced Lee a dawn but have heard Lee a den and Lie a den.

To the best of my knowledge you need a fada on the second A for it to be pronounced “dawn”.

    They're both stupid names.

Are they actual names or the Irish equivalent of Tragedeigh?

Liadan is a genuine name from the annals of ancient Ireland. There was never a fada on the second A, so there's no reason to put one on now. The pronunciation follows the letter - the second syllable is "an" maybe softened to "en" or "on" in some accents, but definitely not "awn".

As for the first, it's been several hundred years since Irish used a fada on an "i" if coupled with an "a" so the modern spelling would be Liadan (as in the names Liam, Niamh, Ciarán ... ).
