    Should is not must.

    It will simplify the likes of a lot of nc6/7/8 because if it's on the list you put in the code.

    Currently your meant to submit the certs with the nc6/7 etc and this option is still open for hardware that isn't on them lists.

    I've not come across an "export power manager" before but a quick google suggests that it can divert power above a certain threshold either to earth or to dissipate as heat. My question is this - does that mean that one could technically over-spec their generation/inverter so long as they control the export to the grid using one of these devices? On the face of it, seems a reasonable method of complying with NC6 where one has significant battery storage/hot water diverter in place.

    Strictly speaking for NC6 no, it would not be allowed as it states the sum of all inverters is 25Amp, and it states no export limitation!
    From ESBN conditions for micro gen (NC6)
    There are no active Export Limitation Schemes available under the Micro-Generation ‘Inform and Fit’ process, as the inverter capacity itself, which shall be within the allowed Micro-Generation limits, is used to determine the export limits.

    Thanks @idc, am I right in thinking it would accomplish the same thing though technically? Would it therefore make sense to make noise about getting NC6 conditions amended? On the face of it, it would seem to be far more flexible for the consumer without impacting on the grid.

    I know solis has an export manager device, which I think talks to their inverters and controls them to prevent export (external EPM is the setting on the inverter to allow this)

    Possibly has some redundancy that it can cut the power if it doesn't comply.

    I assumed most modern inverters already include there own export limitation features, but these are not recognised by ESBN. Through a miscommunication with my inverter manufacturer they remotely reduced my export to 0! So for about a month once the battery was full solar output matched load until I realised what was going on😥
    I'm guessing these export manager devices are more accurate than the inverters own export limitation system.

    These are recognised by ESBN on an N7 as an N7 can included export limitation by software. A N6 does not allow this software functionality
