Now that Q-School is over the season kicks off in earnest this weekend with the start of the Challenge tour and its first 5 events, effectively these are a kind of Q-School part 2 as the top few in the OoM will likely get invites to the early Pro Tour events of the season as replacements. The Challenge tour also offers tour cards for 2026, spots at the Worlds, UK Open and the like also for high placed finishers in the OoM. The likes of Conor Scutt, Wesley Plasier have done very well coming off the challange tour

Some relevant changes to the Euro Tour and Development Tour. Euro Tour will now have the top 16 OoM seeded past the first round, also home nation Euro Tour PDC card holders can only play in qualifying event not both

In the Development Tour, players inside the top 64 cannot play development tour events. This will affect Keane Barry and more than likely Dylan Slevin, if in place for 2024 would have meant Keane Barry wouldnt have qualified for the worlds via the Development Tour.

The change for Development Tour and Euro qualifying makes sense and seem fair, the Euro Tour seeding, less so.

The 2025 PDC Order of Merit Rules have now been confirmed, and include seeding amendments for the World Grand Prix and European Tour.

The PDC Order of Merit Rules - which can be viewed at this link - are the operational guidelines for PDC tournaments being staged in the 2025/26 season.

A change this year will see the World Grand Prix seedings increase to 16 players.

European Tour events will now see 16 seeds from the PDC Order of Merit exempt to the last 32 for each tournament, with the first round seeing the 16 ProTour Order of Merit qualifiers drawn against the other 16 qualifiers.

From 2025, players inside the top 64 of the PDC Order of Merit will not be permitted to enter Development Tour and Women's Series events.

The World Youth Championship will see two players from each group in the round-robin phase progress to compete in an expanded knockout stage, which will now be from the last 64 onwards.

I really don't like the Euro Tour changes. Makes it much more difficult for players to break into the top 16 in the world when they are all guaranteed not only qualification but a bye to the L32 of every Euro Tour event. It all seems very unbalanced and too heavily weighted towards the big guns.

Yep agree completely, they have made really crappy changes to the ET events to benefits the big names over the last 2 years.

Irish Challenge Tour entrants for events 1-5 this weekend. Apart from overall OoM rewards (top 2 get tour cards, place at the worlds), the leader(s) after this first few events will be the ones who act as reserves for the main tour events 1-6, there will be at least 1 reserve each event as Dom Taylor is suspended. The so called Golden ticket

    Dylan Dowling

    Dean Finn Forde

    Michael Flynn

    Conor Heneghan

    Ultan McDyer

    Sean McKeon

    John O Shea

    Patrick Quinn

    Ciaran Teehan

    Neilie Brouder (events 3-5)

    Shane McGuirk (events 3-5)

CT1 is underway. Early wins for John O Shea and Conor Heneghan, but defeats for Sean McKeon, Ciaran Teehan and Patrick. Money (and ranking points) not earned until the L64 stage

What's happened to Ciaran Teehan? Miles off it these days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,266 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Good question. 67 average today, was 2-0 up then lost five on the bounce to lose 5-2.

Dean Finn Forde and Michael Flynn both won their L256 matches, Dylan Dowling lost a last leg decider at that stage

Tracking Irish players from L128 onwards for CT1, playing for points (and money) at this stage, these kick in from L64 stage

John O Shea (out L32) won his first two games 5-0. Loses to tom skyes who averaged 105

    Conor Heneghan (out L32)

    Ultan McDyer (out L64)

    Dean Finn Forde (out L128)

Michael Flynn (out L128) loses last leg decider after being 4-2 up, had a good few darts to win the game

Beau Greaves into SF and has averaged in the 90s for all her games today

These lads must have deep pockets or very good sponsors.

Highest Irish earner today got £200 which you would near need to be getting every day to cover expenses nevermind time of work.

    Winner £2,500

    Runner-Up £1,000

    Semi-Finalists £750

    Quarter-Finalists £500

    Last 16 Losers £300

    Last 32 Losers £200

    Last 64 Losers £75

It's a hard slog for the day there. Greaves in CT1 final. She'll no sooner be finished that till she has a L256 match in CT2

Yeah a tough slog for sure, worth remembering there are 2 events today and 5 events over the course of the weekend.

Shane McGuirk not even there today, just tomorrow and Sunday, would assume thats time off work related

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,266 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Ciaran Teehan out L512 stage again @Kingp35. Similar story to CT1 event, 3-1 up and loses 5-3.

No joy also for Conor Heneghan, Sean McKeon and Dean Finn Forde in the early rounds.

John O Shea, Michael Flynn, Patrick Quinn and Ultan McDyer both into L128 stage however

Beau Greaves wins Challenge Tour event 1 beating Stefan Bellmont in the final

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 12,371 Mod ✭✭✭✭Kingp35

Great for her. Hopefully she can go on a few other runs to finish high up the OOM table get into some of the upcoming pro Tour Events.

I don't think we'll be seeing Teehan on the main tour again any time soon.

Fair play to Beau that she's pushing on. Think a year at the challenge tour will help her out going into Q school next year

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,266 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

If she continues like this on Challenge Tour she wont need Q-school

Beau has now won events on both the Development Tour and the Challenge Tour

Michael Flynn the only ROI player in the money in CT 2. In L32 stage

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,266 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

No back to back for Beau, exits at L64 stage of CT2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,266 ✭✭✭✭KevIRL

Flynn into last 16. Averages just shy of 100 to beat Jack Tweddell.

Beaten by Kevin Burness in last 16
