Briscoe was so unlucky. He almost had him twice. He wasn't aggressive enough. Hamlin in the same position would have forced him to slow up.

if briscoe wrecked himself and Hamlin it would not look good

not as bad !! as Hamlins going for the championship

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 42,062 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

You see Briscoe will never be going for a championship if he isn't willing to do what Hamlin does.

That's the difference between the best and the rest.

    Nascar have updated the rulebook.....

Nascar can now limit the number of entries to 40 cars and additionally six open cars will be guaranteed a starting spot ,the six eligible open entrants being based on owners points.

Effectively this guarantees 23XI and Front Rows staring spots for the rest of the season, which weakens the teams reasoning for an injunction.

Ty Dillon vs Ty Gibbs for the $1million after a JGR weekend

Bubba Wallace finally gets another win - a good thing for the sport

Hamlin gets 3rd from starting last

Larrson cant get it done either race this weekend - hes just not back to what he was yet

Very hard to overtake, Larson and Hamlin did very well to finish second and third.

For a lot of the race I thought Byron had the best car but I don't think he made the most of it. I couldn't believe he ran out of gas. He was sitting in behind for all of the last stage. If anyone was going to run out you'd have thought it would be Bubba.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,357 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

i had backed Byron as he was starting so high . he missed a start and dunno how he was so low - never really had the speed of the toyotas though

In stage 2 he had a few of the fastest laps.

Overall Cindric had 18, Larson 14, Bubba and Keseloeski 12 and Byron 11 of the fastest laps.

They were the only ones in double digits.

Of those only Bubba and Larson ran faster laps and their fast laps were while in front.

Hamlin had 9 of the fastest laps and only he and Byron produced fastest laps when not in front. Hamlin lead one lap and Byron none.

Hamlin had the overall fastest lap of the day.

not as bad as it looked but in general he seemed a little off as he has been for a while

A very eventful xfinity race at the glen ,

zilisch fastest car by a lot - dumps out svg , Carnage 9 laps to go

and then Zilisch falls off the car at the winners podium and breaks his collar bone !!!!

i had enough after the red flag with 9 to go n turned it off

I left it on, there was another red and a yellow after that.

Never heard about Conor breaking his collar bone until now. Hopefully he makes it back for the playoffs.

He ran in the Trucks as well. He started well back and made his way up to third I think it was, then got spun into the sand and lost a lap. He battled back to finish eighth.

I'm not sure his truck was fast enough to match Heim's anyway.

Red flag caused by...…Austin Hill, Hill returning from a one race suspension, which he still refuses to take any responsibility for ,wrecking Michael Mc Dowell.

Most commentators are of the view that it wasn't intentional ,just stupid driving by Hill, who had already 'moved ' Zilisch out of the way.

Zilisch completely at fault for wrecking SVG, Zilisch made a mistake and coming back onto the racing line clipped SVG, some commentators are saying SVG should have given him more space , completely missing the point that it was Zilisch who made the mistake.

Zilisch #87 has been withdrawn from tonight's cup race.

Hopefully tonight's race is more about the racing then wrecking , a number of drivers need to win to save their season ie getting into the playoffs ; Buescher,Almendinger and Busch come to mind , SVG starts favourite

I don't agree about Zilisch. It looked to me that SVG thought he'd clear him and moved across. Zilisch couldn't do anything about it only veer off track and he didn't have to do that.

If you watch it again you'll see that it's SVG that moves across to Zilisch.

Dinger must go better you would think , Busch does not have the car to do it imo

there needs to be some adjustments done to the track somehow open it up at the tight spot and maybe add a better passing place

the V sport 3 Norway 1080p 50 hz stream is good for nascar especiall the xfinity if any of u have it

It's a pity about Conor. I was looking forward to watching him tonight. SVG will run away with it tonight.

Zilisch was off the track, which is allowed, rejoins and clips the rear of SVG.

Dinger is in Kaulig equipment which hasn't been up to the job this season.

Wild rumours about Kaulig switching to Dodge doing the rounds at the moment.

Dodge haven't been in it for years. It's great to see another manufacturer back.

I always liked Dodge, I had a Stratus in the mid 90's, loved the car. It was a brand new car on the market back then.

A lot of negative comments about the Cup race , ultimately drivers put points ahead of winning which is justifiable when a playoff position is on the line and SVG is unbeatable if he and his team 'execute ' perfectly.

Richmond and Daytona remain before the playoffs.

It's mad that Shane has four wins and is only 25th in points. His team need to get their act together on the ovals. He's been qualifying well and the car has been brutal from the off over the last couple of weeks.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,357 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

if he has Zilich against him next year Zilich will score a lot better on ovals and compete in road races . hopefully

Daytona later this evening , after Austin Dillons surprise win last week Tyler Reddick and Alex Bowman are at risk of missing out on the playoffs if they don't win or there is another new winner this season, and at Daytona anything is possible......last race before the playoffs !

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,357 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

daytona on some nbc and peacock usa tonight -

looks like it might be a ford night tonight

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,357 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

parker Klingermann came out of the comms to win the xfinity in daytona taking over from zilisch early on !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,071 ✭✭✭Infoanon

Qualifying was rained off, Ford on super speedway have shown speed but come race day they fail to deliver to often , RFK (Ford) deserve a playoff place imho and anyone of their 3 drivers could win tonight, then again it's Daytona so a Cody Ware win or BJ McLeod is not beyond a possibility

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 6,357 Mod ✭✭✭✭Nowso

well Blaney wins another should have won more as he was the fasted car for a lot of races .

only went for ford and and not Blaney himself

Blaney has to go into the playoffs as favourite imo as its phoenix.

them Hamlin then Larrson , Byron , Bell

The drama at the start of the race with Reddick being caught up in a wreck and then Bowman being wrecked !,

A new winner and Bowman is out of the championship, his Henderick and Chevrolet team mates were not going to be pushing a new name to winners circle....hence Larson leaves Preece high and dry in the closing laps.

Thrilling last laps, Cole Custer and Haley battle for the lead , imagine the controversy if either of these drivers got into the playoffs, Beuscher ,Suarez and Gibbs also in the mix on the last laps.

Blaney wins , and Penskes domination at Phoenix makes him favourite for the playoffs, Briscoe could be one to watch ,Larson has been on a poor run by his standards , Richmond is round 1 next Sunday night ,on PS2 from 10.30pm

I dunno, I've just been watching the 24 crew all season. It's been the most consistent and has three wins.

I've felt all year like they've got something up their sleeve and we'll only get to see it when it's needed.

With the first round of the playoffs this weekend it might be a surprise to find all the focus is on the court battle between 23XI /Frontrow and Nascar , but today's in court 'playoff' was explosive.

The actual case is scheduled for December but today was about an interim junction to allow 23XI and Frontrow to run as Charter teams and to prevent Nascar from carrying out its threat to 'convey' the charters.

While the headlines maybe about Michael Jordans choice of language when commenting on the teams that signed the charter and/or Denny Hamlins disdain of the France family (owners of Nascar) ,the main focus is:

    1. Nascar calling this the 'F@#K the teams' charter
    2. Nascars 'golden code' plan to run all the cars without the teams
    3. The judge warning both sides that everything will be disclosed ie Nascars closest secrets around finances will be made public

The decision on the interim junction is next week.

The judge has recommended a negotiated agreement, today that seems improbable.
