Hello. Our pierce insert stove( named Pierce 'glas' )is just using huge amounts of fuel due to huge updraft.pierce manual is useless .

The damper is one I've never seen anywhere else - it's INSIDE the door ,on the left hand corner of the stove & consists of a little slot about 1.5 inches wide with a metal bar coming out that you are supposed to move right ( open) & left ( close). Utterly useless.

Think we were sold an obsolete model because no one I know has one like this.

Any ideas .huge draft which just eats very expensive wood & coal.

    Would appreciate some help- thanks

I was having the same issue with my stove as the ash pan also contains the damper which is a terrible design. Same way of opening and closing the airflow and it could never really be stoked off so the fire was always burning very hot.

To solve the problem I was able to block the damper with a bit a flat tin to restrict the air flow and can be removed at any time. Now I can leave the house with the stove stoked off and come back hours later and the fire has not burned out.

Is this the same stove you have?

On this one at least there are two air controls, primary and secondary.

You mentioned the one top left inside the door, as per the middle image - is there another one underneath as per the first image there?

Is it a wood burning stove rather an a multifuel?

let the ashes build up on the grate as they will block drafts naturally. Clean up under neath as needed.
