Hi folks

Currently working as a social care staff in residential unit for persons with intellectual disabilities. Am currently looking to move to the prison service in Ireland. Can you offer any advice in relation to the role or the application process?

They recruit through the Public Jobs website. The basics is aptitude tests and then an interview. There is a physical test when you start the job but it's very easy.

Atm its about 37533 a year roughly 630 a week paid biweekly

just wondering does anyone know how soon after completing stage one tests do we get results

I think we are expected to wait a while for results..maybe 2 weeks or so. How did you find the assessment ?

Message on public jobs this morning saying theres an extension for the assessments til the 27th so a day added on if anyone needs it. Had mine done the day they came available lol

Anyone else complete the Assessment Questionnaire in well under the hour they advised it might take? I had it done in about 15 minutes, now wondering if I should have taken a bit more time to think about the answers lol

At least 2 weeks I'd say if not a little more, going by the last time I applied for this role in 2017 the whole process takes quite a few months my best guess if we got to training in Portlaoise it will be 2026 before that phase begins?! Then again the whole recruitment process has changed since then so hopefully that means its faster too.

hi , thought I read on a other thread that stage 1 results usually about a week after assessment closing day ..

Results are late September. Makes sense with the amount of people applying.

Same, found them manageable but some parts were tricky. Was dreading the maths but think I done okay..
