A2W External Unit Replacement Q

    Morning all

I have posted before on an issue I have with an "unsupported" A2W system. We had a domestic system installed in Dublin as part of a full renovation a few years ago, it's a "Cool Energy" system (UK manufacturer)…but the original installer has evaporated and I cannot get anyone to service/support the system. I've contacted Cool Energy UK and they have no Irish agents/suppliers. I have tried contacting loads of heat pump engineers/companies…but no-one prepared to service it. In fairness system has been reasonably good…but has had NO service/maintenance whatsoever in 3 years. My concerns are (1) I'm sure the system would benefit with a basic annual service (filters, etc) (2) we get sporadic errors which are sorted by power on/off - but not ideal obviously, and finally (3) if the system fails…I will have no heat and nowhere to go !!!.

Has anyone experience of replacing their external condenser unit to another brand/make ?. My installation is pretty vanilla - external unit, internal control panel, UFH downstairs, manifold and rads upstairs…and house was fully re-plumbed. Also, the Cool Energy unit has standardish parts, e.g. the internal compressor itself is Mitsubishi. Water heating is a separate independent A2W unit…again Cool Energy but no issues to date.

Any suggestions…or experiences with similar…would be really helpful.

    Many thanks,

    K

Is it a monobloc unit (where it's the heating water that goes out to it?)

Thanks for getting back Graeme. Yes…it's a single outside unit - monobloc - pic attached. Buffer tank/pump/manifold inside.

Sorry can't recommend anyone to help you out with it but who installed that? Clearance is poor enough..

Thanks anyway John. I understood (or hoped !!) that horizontal fan got over the clearance issue. The crowd that supplied/installed are now out of business. They were introduced by our builder…who was spot-on with every other contractor…but this one left us exposed.
