Will DFS UK deliver to Dublin?

Looking to buy a 3+2 leather power recliner sofa set. Surprised to find one I liked when I popped into DFS. The set I want comes to a little under €5k (about twice what I wanted to spend, but my existing set is 15+ years old and needs replacing). The one at DFS actually seems to be quite a good quality set. I checked the price of DFS up north and the same set is €350 less. Not a huge difference, but enough for me to consider buying.

If I buy from the UK store, do they deliver to Dublin? If they do, maybe the Irish store might price match….but I wouldn't hold my breath.

UK stores apparently only do 50 mile radius, so Dublin from Belfast isn't happening. Also you'd need to pay customs and Irish VAT so the entire difference would be gone. VAT difference alone is €100 of it.

I once bought a laptop in Curry's UK (Newry) to save about €150 (about 20%) on the Curry's Ireland price. When it needed repairing about 12 months later, I had to take it back to Newry to get fixed and then collect it 2 weeks later. Curry's Ireland would not take it.

I wouldn't be buying a €5k sofa from outside the Republic as it would be awkward if anything's not right with it.

Good point. I was thinking this too, which is why I was leaning toward using the lower price to knock a few bob off the local one.

#1 - dfs customer service is crap.

#2 - they will power sell you all sorts of crap that you don't need (special treatment, insurance etc)

#3 - unless you REALLY want it, avoid them

Feel free to buy from the UK. You will pay Irish vat and possibly additional duty and shipping costs and customs entry fees.

Also use REAL exchange rates in your calculation. Currently about 1.235 if paying by card. EG is the suite is £2,000 it is €2470 - add the extra vat and its €2532. Add duty (if its made outside UK/EU) of 10% and you are over €2800.

Or check local retailers, especially Finline Furniture who start their sale on Jan 2nd - Factory shop in Emo would be my preferred location (this is where the suite would be made as they don't import their settees)
