Max would also want as little weight as possible in the car. I'd imagine those that want to wear it won't if it means having more weight in the car than other drivers.

All those not using it have to add 500gram ballast to the cockpit

That's exactly the same as not enforcing the Halo. If it brings a disadvantage in weight or aerodynamic efficiency, nobody would volunteer to use it. Allowing it would be pointless if it's not enforced.

Gap between Russell and Verstappen is smaller than the gap between LeClerc and Russell or Verstappen and Norris.

Russell will be all out to beat verstappen. Unlikely given the sudden improvement of the redbull but would be a fair achievement if he did.

If I hear one more mention of papaya ****ing rules, I swear to God....

F1 used to be a sport of men. Ruthless competitors. Winners. Men like Jim Clark and Alberto Ascari, Niki Lauda and Ayrton Senna, Gilles Villeneuve and Michael Schumacher.

If you tip your teammate you demote yourself? Ask me arse.

Tell that to Raikonnen, Vettel, Piquet, Keke Rosberg, Prost, Fernando Alonso in his prime. They'd laugh in your face. Then they'd do everything to get you fired for the good of the team.

Hopefully this makes Piastri see sense and stop giving up sports to Lando.

I'd actually love Max to win the championship by 2 points from Piastri to hammer home how stupid they have been all season. Having a slow pitstop resulted in Piastri having to swap with Lando, but Lando barging into Oscar to "avoid" a crash is fair game and carry on. It's clear they are just making their rules up as they go along.

Just a correction, Lando didn't hit Oscar trying to avoid Max, he hit Max and that bounced him into Oscar.

Well this is exciting news! Kalle is switching to circuit racing full time it seems. Super Formula in 2026 and hoping to race in F2 in 2027! Fair play to him. Maybe we'll see him in F1 some day.

Just reading about this now. Wild.

Mind you, I would not put it past a Finnish rally driver, they are all naturally insane.

Yeh. If you want to win, employ a Finn.

Is there any to know if he will keep commercial ties to TGR? Possibly have a Haas seat with his name sort of on it.

Has anyone followed the Mclaren/Alex Palou court case ? From what I gather Mclaren are looking for 20 million in damages after Palou backed out of an indycar contract for the 2024 season. Palou claiming he was potentially in line for an F1 seat if he signed the contract but they then signed Piastri and Zak Brown claims that a potential f1 drive was just a negotiation tactic

Bloody right ! I agree 100% with everything you said .

Alot of noises online about a leclerc piastri swap, surely not! as angry as piastri is with McLaren Ferrari are even more of a sh1tshow.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,398 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Didn't Leclerc just sign a long term deal with Ferrari?

Edit: Yes, reportedly as far as 2029. Hardly likely that'd be bought out.

Doesn't surprise me at all, we all know that despite the messaging from McLaren, they are desperate for Norris to win as a British driver, the same way as they were desperate for Hamilton to beat Alonso all the years ago.

They can say whatever they want in public.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,890 ✭✭✭✭dulpit

Piastri is better set to beat Norris and take the team off him. No big driver is going to agitate for a move until the pecking order becomes obvious next season with the new rules. And if red bull are poor then every other team will wait until Max decides where to go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,398 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

Except back then it was Ron Dennis/Martin Whitmarsh (British) and now it's Zak Brown (American). Hardly the same dynamic at play. A lot of woowoo conspiracy theories floating around mainly because McLaren don't want to upset either driver which will inevitably upset them both.

I think this is really interesting regarding Palou, and the what ifs had McLaren not secured Piastri. So Andreas Siedel was who wanted to sign Piastri, not Zak Brown. Maybe McLaren had good plans to get Palou to F1 within a few years but the Piastri move completely skewed a direction for Palou.

So now we have to be thinking Piastri isn't who Zak wanted in the F1 team, but Palou. How would that make Piastri feel after the Palou court case hearings?

In any case, it certainly looks like the team favours Lando more, and that's only gotta hurt for Piastri. Looking forward to the gloves-off racing during the final 6 races. I suspect Piastri will not let anything go and will race hard. In my opinion, he's a better driver/racer than Lando.

At the time you posted that (3am Irish, what is wrong with you?😛) It was technically still Sunday in Austin so it wasn't Race Week yet.

    This too shall pass.

Not surprising, but the interesting but is this:

Suggests they're both in place for more than 1 season. Now I know contracts can be broken and all, but still...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,398 ✭✭✭✭prawnsambo

The Race are saying there's no statement from Merc saying the contracts are multi-year and go beyond 2026. There may be options, but it's odd that they're not saying anything beyond 2026.

And for anyone who likes more up to date info, give ChatGPT (or your favourite AI agent) a search - it's quite interesting. Here was my prompt on the Massa case:

"what are the key points being made at the Massa F1 hearing - what is on the submission?"
