    FFS!

I bought 100 cans of Carlsberg in Tesco up north and dumped all the cans in the recycling bin. 😪

Not all are accepted though, I had Carling with the Re-Turn logo on then accepted no problem but Carlesberg, Magners and Coors with no logo rejected. All bought in Newry just before Christmas. That's why I asked @Hellrazer if they had the logo on them.

So are some cans WITHOUT the Return logo being accepted?

Does that mean we should try every can now at the machines?

the nordie cans of coke say recycle where as the Irish ones say return, I’m very surprised that the cans worked at all down here.

That's what I tagged Hellrazer for to find out, I know we can check the barcode on the Re-Turn website but I had some cans that said they were ok rejected.

What you should do is enter the barcode details on the Re-Turn website to see if it's accepted, it's all driven by the barcode. The Re-Turn logo has no bearing on the verification step in the machines as to whether it will be accepted or not.

I found one of my northern Carlsberg cans, it actually doesn't have a barcode on it at all so no money thrown away here at least!

A word of warning for anyone thinking of going to Asda in Portadown for beer, the 3 for £23 section is a joke. I was up there the other day because of no offers in Tesco/Sainsburys Newry and their offer section is tiny. They had about 10-12 cases of 10 x 440ml of each brand is all and Coors were out of stock.

I Had to get a mixture of all sorts to make it worthwhile. They did have 12 x 440ml Magners in the any 3 for £23 offer though and it's not listed online. Below is the whole of what they had in the offer. I don't know why pictures aren't posting anymore.

Yes the next 3 months are pretty much the doldrums for beer deals up there, doesn't really pick up until around Easter.

Yeah, it's just a pity there's no Asda in Newry to cop Tesco/Sainsburys on. They both know they can get away with offering nothing whereas Asda in the north run that offer all the time but it's not worth a trip to Belfast unless I'm going there anyway.

Worth noting it's not just booze which sometimes has the Re-Turn logo up here as well, certain soft drinks will also have it. Handy if you are going through a lot of coca cola, tonic water etc.

I used the scanner to check the Carlsberg that I bought in Jonesborough for Xmas (hardly touched as we all had the flu).

None have the refund logo and all qualify!

Heineken in NI is a different product with a different ABV to what's sold down here so those cans ain't gonna work. Same as with Carlsberg.

Only caveat is if purchased in an independent offie, it might be 'Southern' Heineken/Carlsberg and then those cans will work.

The flipside is the likes of Carling. The one product for the UK and ROI in the same cans with the same barcodes.
