    And information greatly welcomed.
We are trying to relocate from the Uk back to Ireland. We have two boys aged 12 and 9. We need to get a school place for both of them. Any advice on the schools must appreciate.

Can you live in killaloe and get a bus to Scarriff and vice a versa.
I know hurling is the main sport but is there any Gaelic football teams in the area ?
the boys also love fishing and we were delighted to see so many young people out fishing. Is there a fishing club?

There is no Gaelic football in the area. It is in mid and west Clare.

There is hurling and rugby, no Gaelic football at all. There are fishing competitions. The schools are good. St Anne’s in Killaloe is a Catholic secondary and Scarriff Community College is a community school (multidenominational).

There are plenty of primary schools. It’s probably best to go to the school where you intend to live. That be in the Scariff area or the Killaloe area.

There are buses between Scarriff and Killaloe but not a school bus as they are different catchment areas. Scariff is East Clare (north) and Killaloe (East Clare South).

Scariff Community College - Students would come from Scariff, Ogonnelloe, Bodyke, Tuamgraney, Mountshannon, Whitegate, Feakle, Killanea, Broadford (a few). These would be served by a school bus to Scariff for secondary.

Killaloe - Killaloe a south/ east of Killaloe mostly. O’Briens Bridge, Broadford, Bridgetown, Ballina (in Tipperary - other side of the bridge), These would be served by a school bus to Killaloe for secondary.

thanks very much for your detailed reply. Especially regarding the school bus routes.
we have registered with estate agents and applied for school. Hopefully we will get a rental while we are selling our home.

Both my children went to St'Annes secondary in Killaloe, it's a great school. Both kids did well in the leaving cert and went on to complete tertiary degrees. My daughter wanted to learn Japanese, but it wasn't taught at the school, so she asked if she could drop the social fluff unit and teach herself, and they agreed and let her do her thing. The national ps on the Ballina side is also great.
