Foreshore Hunting

    Hi

I am 21 years old and new to hunting. I got my shotgun license about 2 years ago and only have permission in two fields as I don't know too many people that own land. I was made aware of the foreshore license so I went ahead and got one to broaden my portfolio, but I am unfamiliar with how it all works and was hoping to get some info.

So from my understanding the foreshore is the area of land between low and high tide, however I do not own a boat so how do I go about accessing the foreshore? Do i need to find a public road that leads down to the foreshore or should at look at getting permission to enter land near the area I will be hunting? What is the best method for hunting the foreshore, should i walk up and down the foreshore then find a spot to hide and wait? What is considered fair game? I understand that I need to be on the foreshore to shoot but can I shoot out over the river or over the green areas along the bank?

Any answers or other information on what I should know before heading out would be greatly appreciated!

Hi there, foreshore shooting can be tuff enough going first off a good strong well trained dog is needed, sometimes it's hard to get close to what your shooting on a low tide, high tide shooting you'll probably needs decoys and get yourself a good flight line ,it's very much trial and error with foreshore shooting but after a while you'll get the swing of things, and as for getting yourself into position there's a lot of bank walking involved, other options are get yourself a boat that makes it a lot easier to get to the areas that holds a lot more birds on Islands and drains and gullies, Happy shooting!
