I've never bought garden plants online so don't know which are the good places so it would be great if anyone could recommend a good online garden shop please. I just looked at Mr Middleton and they seem very pricey.

I'm not a huge fan of Mr Middleton for bulbs TBH. I've had a few orders where the bulbs weren't the colour/variety I selected once they grew. I ordered two pink and white dinner plate begonias this year and one was a hideous bright yellow small begonia. Similar happened last year.

If it's a large order then bulbi.nl is very good for tulips. Unfortunately they have a large shipping fee so not worth it for small orders. Never bought bulbs but Farmer Gracy sometimes has sales and free shipping.

Woodies might be a good bet. They would have a pretty quick turnover so I imagine bulbs in good condition. Any I bought there were good and what they said.

Thanks for the tips. I think I'll avoid Mr Middleton. That's pretty bad that your bulbs came up the wrong colour. Similar thing happened me with Ebay. I bought pale cream coloured Nasturtium seeds and when they came up I could see red tinges on the stems of some. Turned out they were just the regular bright orange and yellow ones. Luckily I was able to whip them out well before they got a chance to spread their seeds.

Just editing to say I've looked at bulbi.nl and Farmer Gracy and neither have just a plain white old fashioned tulip. They're all so fancy! Well bulbi.nl does have them but I'd have to buy 250 !!

I would say best to get them down in the next couple weeks. But you'd probably be ok up to the end of November.

I think it's a bit late in the year for bulbi.nl. All the good ones are gone. If you see them anywhere though buy exotic emperor in cream. They are really beautiful.

J Parkers have just opened a distribution center in Ireland. I ordered from them a few weeks ago, delivery took a while but they've got a decent selection and the bulbs were good quality when they arrived.

I've ordered bulbs from here a few times and wasn't disappointed.
