Verstappen won all but 3 races last year, Perez in fairness won 2 of the other 3. But in total he got 9 podiums, one more than Alonso (whose team mate got 0) in the most dominant car in history. He's been mostly dogshit.

He was never a top top driver, he was always a number 2, while not great previous years with a good car (MAXS driving made it a incredible car)he done enough to keep his seat.

    It's a shame I like PREZ.

It's been a great turn around for Haas, getting rid of Gunther was a great call

NOR will make this easy by the looks of it.

What a save from Leclerc, that would have been a nasty crash

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭kerrykartel

No need LER nearly binned it.

Defo call LeClerc in for fresh tyres.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭kerrykartel

Was it GUNTHER, or has car developments pushed them from a back team to mid or above mid team, great to see all the same.

Will wait as long as possible otherwise Norris will then put at the end to get the point back

These two Mercs are getting very close.

    Nice overtake..... eventually.

I'm watching the highlights now - great stuff Perez.

Smooth operator, Williams have struck gold, hopefully they can have a car that he can compete with.

Expect LeClerc to take it back off Lawton.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,660 ✭✭✭Dave0301

Crotfty's obvious dislike of Verstappen is boring to listen to at this stage.

I really need to look for alternative English commentary.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭kerrykartel

Surely PREZ hasn't a hope with a damaged car for fastest lap.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 103 ✭✭kerrykartel

The media pen is going to be interesting...… Don't forget any where.

I’ll have to rewatch the second half when I get home but fair play to sainz.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,421 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

    Great win for Sainz.

Norris will be happy with second.

LeClerc third anf with the fastest lap.

Max was busy but got 6th.

Perez with yet another GP to forget.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,348 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Some drive from Sainz, hard to believe he'll be at Williams next year.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,727 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Yeah well done Sainz, another excellent weekend from him. Max lost 10 points to Norris this wkend so not the worst and thankfully Ferrari are also taking points from Norris. Great race for Haas with both cars in the points.

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 34,421 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

A very enjoyable race despite a 25 lap or so of nothing happening.

Sainz at Williams just sounds more wrong with every race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,101 ✭✭✭thefa

A better start from Sainz last week and he might even have back to back wins. Well earned today.

Constructors is down to 29 points. Would be a bit of failure if McClaren were unable to hold onto that.

Sky stirring shité up with Zak Brown already.

The clip of Lawson flipping the bird at Checo as he overtakes him is amusing.

Ah missed the start of the cool down room chat coz Sky cut to Zak Brown moaning 🙄

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,348 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

Sky will want Verstappen charged with attempted murder

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,106 ✭✭✭mun1

im a big max fan, but he lost it out there . Deserved his penalty. And the points damage wasn’t too bad in the end , him holding up lanado for a number of laps ended up costing Norris a chance of the win

As someone said earlier, sky wont be happy with the penalty and were gutted when verstappen made up places after taking his penalty

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,711 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Decent race and glad to see the Haas GR Toyotas collect some good points. At this rate, Hulkenberg might get a podium before his Audi move.

    Woohoo! Gasly gets a point.

The penalty was insanely harsh. Even Brundle initially called for Norris to give the place back as it was very 50:50. How they can give ten seconds for that but not for the incidents with Lawson, Perez, Stroll and Colapinto which were all much more egregious cases of pushing cars off track is crazy.

It’s pretty much unprecedented to give a driver ten seconds for simply holding the racing line and staying on track when it was just about 50/50 at the apex as another driver attempted to go round the outside. The second the penalty was given I immediately thought it was political and wondered if Johnny Herbert was steward again this week, so I looked it up and lo and behold he was.

The second move was clearly more penalty worthy, Mac let the red mist come down after seeing Norris overtake off track and not give the place back, but even for that move 5 seconds is the more normal penalty given for things like that, it’s not all that uncommon for a car to dive down the inside and miss their braking point. I assume he didn’t give the place back and the team didn’t consider it either because they believed they were due the place back from Norris overtaking off track prior to that anyway.

Had any other driver than Max done the same thing he did they’d be walking away with 5 seconds, maybe 10 at most. No way was it twenty seconds.

Via legitimate Formula for Success and Beyond the Grid podcast sponsor Nord VPN (other VPNs are available) I put my tablet in the UK, put on BBC Radio 5 Live on the tablet, switch my soundbar to Bluetooth and sync up the Sky Sports Ultra HD picture to the sounds of Harry Benjamin, Sam Bird and Andrew Benson.

Right now F1TV are door stopping all the drivers leaving the pen.

    This too shall pass.

Thanks. I don't mind Brundle and some of his insights are quite good. Croft though has just been awful for the entire year.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,727 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Herbert being a steward explains a lot so. Not just for the bs first penalty for Max but with others not getting penalties as you mention. Perez and Lawson were both due one (a second in Sergios case). Anyway, long as Max still lifts the title I won’t give a fiddlers.

Croft has been awful for his entire career. He’s so bad I’d take Legard back at this stage.

I don’t understand how Channel 4 has such a vastly superior team when they clearly have a much smaller budget.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,797 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Brundle is the best of the sky team because he was a driver for years. The worst of the sky coverage is Croft and ted kravitz who are just a **** dose. They try to be funny and fail miserably.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 nifarot

Honestly I'd love to see Verstappen take a **** in your mouth so you could wax lyrical about it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,295 ✭✭✭waynescales1

Norris 47 points behind with 4 races to go. Just about still in with a chance, although hard to see it happening without more race penalties, a grid penalty or a DNF for Verstappen. With a bit of luck it will still be in the balance come the last race of the season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Holding the racing line......staying on track.......what race were you watching?

I have read some nonsense on here but this is top tier rubbish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 nifarot

1.42, would like to see Verstappen's qualifying lap, something tells me he took a different line.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22 nifarot

2nd incident should have been a black flag as far as I'm concerned. Zero attempt to make the corner, purely ran him off the road at high speed towards a wall. If it was anyone else it would've been called out for the disgrace it was.

Norris was ahead at the apex of turn 4 so the fabled 'all the time you have to leave a space' applied to Norris here, unlike in Austin where Max was ahead at the apex. So, Max drove Lando off the circut which is a slam dunk penalty with no mitigating circumstances.

The 2nd incident was dirty racing, plain and simple. A drive through penalty for that wouldn't have been harsh.

'Holding the racing line and staying on track'....what? You're making stuff up here Max drifted completely off the track, twice.

Colopinto got a 10 second penalty by the way.

id say Max will be happy with the damage limitation today after his moment of madness

Even with the car struggling he's shown he is a class above all the other drivers. One of the best drivers ever !

RB need to find a solution to the car quickly
