With today's storm coming, anyone notice a difference in the animals activity?

I see birds are flying low and fast here.

Cattle will always instinctively fond shelter before the storm comes anyway.

My sucklers cows with their heifer calves are still out - there's been a good flush of regrowth in the last couple of weeks. This afternoon OH dropped a few transport boxes of hay along the sheltered hedges for them to nip at if they want.

We live a few kilometres from the sea in a sheltered type landscape, anytime I see a seagull flying near our house I know for a fact there is really bad weather on the way.

Yea, huge late growth here this year, going by the plate meter there's two months grass here for the sheep still, provided, of course, we don't get six inches of snow

    I presume you don't live in a tillage/spuds area.

Does breaking in around the hay shed count

Correct, surrounded by mostly forestry, local farms are sheep or cattle.

Same here. Few kms inland here with loads of shelter and the seagulls were everywhere here since yesterday morning

My father told me in the 80s he seen cattle getting into ditches and wouldn't come back out. Hurricane Charlie came that night.

I noticed a lot of pigeons on the ground in a forest over the weekend and they were in no hurry to fly away, probably taking shelter from the storm

Horses often lie down more than usual during the day if a storm is due that night. They seem to sense it coming and get a rest while they can..

"Seagull seagull stay on the strand. 'tis never good weather when you are on the land"

I drove from Connemara to Beara yesterday during the storm and both cattle and sheep were grazing away finely same as ever.

I saw no difference and I was looking out for anything different.

That said, I'd say it would be a different story if it was in March..

Small house dog here sleeps beside the stove at night usually looks to go out around 6 in the morning, but a bad morning he wouldn't leave his bed, he wouldn't even have to look outside he knows what's going on.
