My advisor is asking me about applying for a PTO shaft cover grant. Says government will pay 60% of cost. Have an old one but is it worth picking up one for the sake of getting 60 euro back. Anyone buy one for the scheme and how much?

What do you mean you have an old one, is it damaged?
I wouldn't buy a PTO cover for the sake of buying one, but if you have one that needs replacing then replace it and you may as well get 60% of the cost back. Price will vary depending on the size of the shaft and if it is standard or wide angle.

No it is not damaged but if I got a new one for 40 euro that would be a good offer to take advantage of no?

Could be value if you need it, but could also be just sitting in storage for evermore especially if you are not a heavy user of your current one. I think this PTO grant is likely to be repeated but I could be wrong. Definitely a good thing if you have a number of them that need replacing.

    Cheaper than an arm

We availed of it here the last time. Almost unintentionally. Sent a machine up to have something fixed on it and the place decided to replace the PTO cover (without asking) …. and it wasn't even gone, just the bit at the end around the joint. I just immediately went and submitted for it under the scheme the same day before we collected it.

I wouldn't be paying an advisor to do it. I think it took maybe all of 2 minutes to put in for it

The grant aid will be at a rate of 60%, subject to a maximum eligible cost of €100 per PTO shaft cover. Just wondering is is 60 euro or up to 100 euro if it equates to 60%

I think €60 off of the total cost is the maximum you will get. But most standard shaft covers can be got for between €80 and €100. Wide angle or other non standard covers would be more.

Make sure you order the right size even the universal fitting covers come in 2 different diameters for heavy or light shafts and 2 different lengths. Too long doesn't matter as it can be cut back.

Yea number of people picked out every where for an inspection

Ah yes. They fairly OK. Few chain brackets ripped off as usual but he didn't go to town checking them in fairness. He didn't want the hassle of pto inspections when he's flat with big tams grants.
