I couldn't see a relevant discussion so starting one here for anyone interested.

I have seen plenty of people online take 'extreme day trips' EDT where they fly somewhere abroad and are back home later that day and wondered if this thread would become a valuable topic.

I have not done one yet, but have Milan booked soon for 50.30 return. Fly at 8am and home at 10.30 pm. Will spend the day in Milan Bergamo as it looks like a lovely spot, but not one I would necessarily go for a weekend.

I live close to the airport so transport and parking are not a cost.

    Anyone ever done one

and please resist the urge to derail with any green concerns.

I went to Tirana on a day trip in 1992.

    Ireland won 2-0. 😁

Ive done a few day trips over the years - mainly going to an event or for work purposes.

Once did a day trip to Frankfurt. Was going somewhere else with an early evening connection in Frankfurt Airport. So decided to take an early flight from Dublin and have a relaxing day in Frankfurt before taking the connecting flight.

Been to that airport many times, never been to Bergamo other than the shopping centre across the road from the airport. Would get the Bus into Milan city centre, doesn't take long..

Though for 1 day trips I'd be looking at Edinburgh, Bristol, maybe even Newquay Cornwall! :-D
