Duties within role intellectual Disability service

    Hi there

I would really appreciate your opinion on this query I have regarding I am in the process of applying for jobs within the Intellectual disability and mental health areas of work.

The jobs I have seen advertised are for Day service Instructors within a large Disability service they require all the duties of this role but on top of that, it also requires attending to the personal care needs of clients across the spectrum. To be honest I am alarmed that a large disability organisation would expect their employees to deliver day service programmes and attend to the personal care needs of their clients. Surely this is crossing personal and professional boundaries with the staff member and for the client as well. I feel they are expecting a lot from their employees.

I am curious regarding the Day service Instructor role is it rewarding or are you overworked in this role?
