Extension Floor Plans…help?

We are looking at doing an extension. 4 bed terraced, east facing garden, 4 active kids.

See architects plans below..a couple of questions/advice required
Should we close front of house from back? Lovely light in the front of the house in the evening, although we have been advised that it’s good to have separate spaces as kids get older. The kitchen is in the darkest part of the house so not happy with that.

I’d appreciate all/any advice, thank you for your time ☺️

I like the idea of a closed off little “snug”.
Somewhere the parents can sit in the evenings without the kids.

But, I’d question the removal of your side entrance. I assume you have one as existing as per the site layout shown.

I never recommend removal of side entrances due to their handiness.

You can then put a door from the side directly into the utility room. Handy for kids coming home from football etc with their wet and dirty gear.

    Are you doing anything upstairs?

@Gumbo. We don’t have a side entrance, garage has already been converted to the existing playroom on the plans. Over garage extension completed already as well though with a flat roof. Considering doing attic (hence architect) and need for P.P to change pitch etc ….. although budget may not stretch that far with the eye-watering ball park figures for downstairs extension.
Our house is wider at the front (approx 50cm), hence the tapered site on the plan.

The absence of a draught lobby front and back is foolish.

You seem to have access out back only with a sliding door which will freeze the entire house when opened
