    Just a thought.

With the mini Tesco opening up, and the general shutting down of shops in High Street, is there any chance the Council can change the one way system a bit and introduce more parking on High Street.

Given that the street used to be two way, is obviously means there's room for one lane of traffic and the other lane could be used for parking.

Surely that would help shops downtown a bit? One of the advantages of the Lidl/Supervalu/Aldi, and the few associated shops in Loughboy is the handy parking.

It'd be a squeeze, but surely giving people the option of parking on the main street gets people down there.

The only thing I'd be in favour of is more bluebadge parking and thats it, anyone else can walk from the tonnes of parking that exists nearby.

As for the space you've mentioned, its already been allocated for other road use.

I think it would be a huge step backwards to see the contraflow cycle lane being removed, its fantastic seeing people using it including kids and parents.
People cycling through High Street can now do so in either direction in about 1min, very efficent when compared to driving.

More people cycling around the city the more people not driving which means less traffic.

If people want to shop in high street they will, if the requirment for them to shop is they must park within 50feet of the shop then they clearly don't want to actually shop on high street.
