I see TNT are picking up the World Open on Friday when ES closes.

Hopefully this will continue, a full snooker coverage switch from ES.

They had it last Sunday and then it disappeared Monday.

Hopefully after all the messing about they maintain a consistent coverage on these TNT channels seeing as they ran the Eurosport brand into the ground.

They're advertising the new content during the football tonight. Mentioned the WST including world championship.

Yeah, thing is though on a night like this where TNT 1-4 have football, there is no room there for snooker.

With the CL the way it is now, there are quite a few nights like that Sept-March.

We will see how it unfolds.

TNT 3 appear to be showing the quarter final matches. Also advertising themselves as the new home of snooker. Fingers crossed!

Finally Higgins will win a major tournament. It has been a while. Surely he won't fold from here.

First title in 4 years. He might be dangerous again in Sheffield once he's got the monkey off his back.

Still not quite as old as Ray Reardon was when he won the Professional Players ranking title in late 1982.

He looked shaky in the 2nd session, but that will do him a huge amount of good. A better opponent might have reeled him in.

£175k for the winner sorts his ranking out for a while anyway

O'Sullivan pulls out of the World Grand Prix.

He has hardly played since last summer with his early exit in the UK and no show at the Masters.

If he pulls out of the World Championship (and this looks quite likely now) can we reasonably speculate that he is packing it in at this stage.

He will be 50 in December, so it looks like the end of the road, but we know that we said this before.

Snooker seems to shown on TNT3 for now. Real test will be the two table set up at the Crucible, and how much studio analysis and interviews are shown, as this was a strong point for Eurosport.

Before then we have two ITV4 tournaments. Free to air.

Now Sports extra is usually about 10-15 euro per month in the South.

I'm genuinely gutted ES is gone, the coverage was exceptional throughout the snooker season

I don't have NowTV as I'm locked in to a two year contract with Virgin Media TV and to get TNT Sports it's another €30 per month which I just can't afford.

Difficult to say. White lost world finals almost exclusively to Davis and Hendry. Lost 5 in a row! 😕

Ding has only made it past the 2nd round six times.

Jimmy for me - as well as reaching 6 Crucible finals, he has won World Amateur and Seniors titles and is still on the tour aged 62. Ding has won the UK 3 times (vs once for Jimmy) and more ranking titles overall, but you have to caveat that with him competing in a era when there are more ranking tournaments. I doubt he's partied as hard as Jimmy over the years either…

I love the way Ding plays the game. I was never a big fan of Jimmy in his hey day. Too unpredictable

I don’t know is it nostalgia. But I would rate Jimmy as better than Ding. More fight in him more variety of shots. To keep coming back and play in all those Finals Is some achievement.
Most would have given up. And he is still having a go in his 60’s.
Ding is just too “soft” great player but a softie on and off the table.

Jimmy came within one pot (or a couple of pots) of winning the WC versus prime Hendry so I can't see how Ding could be rated higher.

I don’t think Ding is that soft. He’s won 15 ranking titles including 3 x UK. Plus the Masters.

Hendry has said time and again that Ding is not “Ruthless” enough.

Plus Ding has a tendency to “hero worship” Ronnie even when playing him. That always annoys me. And the Head to Head between Ding and Ronnie is very one sided towards Ronnie.

I think Ding can let himself be be bullied on the table. Seems to happen a lot to him, is my perception of it.

He has only won one in five of matches played v Ronnie.

Bingham is such a fluent player in amoung the balls.

Big win for him today, as Trump was in some form demolishing Vafaei the other day 5-0 with a 145 and 146 break, only 31 points I think for Vafaei all match.
