So, Anyone have any standout Adverts from the 2024 crop?

There were 2 or 3 I thought were the best of a middling bunch but no instant classics.

Tesco's gingerbread one was probably my standout in 2024.

Loved the Tesco one myself, I feel Tesco tend to nail it more than it doesn't.

There's a big shift in Advertising lately where they're trying harder not to offend people than to make ads and as such they are refusing to mention Christmas in a Christmas Ad which defeats the purpose of the ad.

Gone are the big family get togethers around the table kind of ads, the magic is gone from ads completely, did anyone see the Coke Truck Holidays are coming ads in the end? I didn't see that or the Guinness one on live tv at all this year!

I definitely didn't see the Coca Cola Holidays Are Coming ad this year. I saw the Guinness one a few times, but really only in the few days right before Christmas.

Neither Dunnes nor SuperValu seemed to have a proper Christmas ad this year, it was just showing their food ranges. Dunnes must have retired their one that they've had for the last few years.

That Dunnes one with the kids setting up the lights was first aired in 2020 so was used for 5 years, I thought I did see it at least once this year (we always get a chuckle out of it as we know one of the children in the ad who has grown considerably since it was filmed) their previous one (which was far better IMO) was used from 2014-2019 so was used for 6 years in total, so maybe they felt this year was the time to dial it back before dropping it.

Supervalu used the reindeer & 'believe the magic' tagline from 2021-23 and like you I didn't see it this year so suspect that has been dropped also.

As @loughc said, sadly many firms/products are no longer making traditional christmas adverts anymore so the days of the big TV adverts may be coming to a close, certainly in terms of scale anyway.

I added just 4 to my advert playlist this year, and looking back there's been just a few added in the last few years as IMO they just don't make them like they used to.
