Hey,my provisional/learner had expired and I only renewed it. It was a third so have test booked. Getting insured on husband's car but they asked how long I have permit for,do I say 10 years the length I did have it for or just zero years as it's just renewed thanks? Not working out much difference in price, just want to know I'm covered thanks

Unless they specifically ask: 'for how long have you held your current permit', I would reply the total time. Which, in your case, would be 10 years.

The reason they don't ask you to state for how long you have held your current permit is, as you pointed out, that if you only renewed it, the answer would be zero or just a few days.
