Good Sky deal if you have Sky broadband, Sky sports €10 a month for 12 months

Signed into the sky website to see the offers, Sky stream €20 a month for 12 months, Add on Sky Sports for €10 a month for 12 months, TNT sports €7 a month for 6 months, you can get a extra streaming puck for €10 a month.

I put a package together ,HD is standard, Sky tv with Netflix upgraded to standard, Discovery plus for free (€6.99 per month), Sky sports and TNT sports with a extra streaming puck €53 a month, already have 500mb broadband for €30 a month.

After 6 month TNT goes to €17 per month, so I'd abandon that if no offer given.

You get UHD a Dolby atmos for 3 months free then its €10 a month, from what i have seen online, it not really needed as the standard HD is very good.

You get 3 months of ad skipping on box sets then €6 a month, no idea how this works to be honest.

Sky rolling out reduced streaming delay on the main Sky sports channel, apparently the delay is about the same as satellite now, that was the big complaints about streaming sports, should be a nonissue going forward.

I know we will now have posters bragging about dodgy box streaming for €80 a year, they fail to admit the football will frequently pause during big games, so this looks to be the cheapest way to reliably watch Sky sports.

    Good deal or not?

Whats the picture quality like on Sky Stream, is it anyway comparable to satellite ?

Now TV football streams are much inferior from past experience.

Not sky sports You can get perfectly legit streaming services in other countries using a VPN that won't pause and will cost less than €10 a month and will show all PL games.

Now tv is 27 euro per month for all sports, it's 3 euro per month for boost which means that it can be used in 3 different households. So 10 euro per house which is a great deal

Theres separate thread for NowTV codes.

    https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058086783/now-tv-latest-deal-codes#latest

No UHD yet, but a higher tier of Boost will be available at some point (already in UK) for UHD & Dolby Atmos streams on Now.

One advantage Now has over Sky stream is you can use it on any device on any TV (eg TV apps, Firestick, AppleTV, GoogleTV, Roku etc). Also rolling 30 days contracts (with a couple of exceptions).

Can report it is working flawless, HD is sharp and vivid, any decent 4k TV will have a upscaler built in anyway so UHD is not really noticeable unless closer to the TV, so for me i wont be upgrading to it when the trial expires, no glitches, it just works.

UHD is available now as per terms on the NOW tv website. Ultra boost i think its called

Fubo Canada is 280 Canadian dollars for a 12 month subscription and you can share it with 2 other people so works out about €60 each, add a VPN subscription to that and you easily come in under €10 a month.

I picked up Peacock TV in US for US$30 for the year. HD broadcasts and great catchup/reply features. Plus access NFL and a lot of TV & Movie content. I find it useful for when I cant get a game on Sky or TNT.

How did you manage payment? Signing up for Peacock never worked for me.

Peacock doesn't show all PL games, fubo Canada does.

    Hence the $250 price difference.

Firstly I kept an eye out for deals/codes on reddit esp with Black Friday coming up - reports of US$20 deals for 12 months (Not worth the Premium Plus to go ad free). The few US ads are actually really high quality!

Used to be able to use overseas Paypal payments, but that got nerfed. Best way to subscribe outside the US is to use a US Apple ID.

Once that is setup, you can buy iTunes/Apple gift cards from Eneba or Cdkeys and the like and add these to your US App Store account balance.

Then open Peacock app (on the US app store) & subscribe through the app. Make sure your VPN is one when subscribing.

Peacock TV app will only run on an Apple device capable of running iOS14 or higher.

I have peacock app running on a formuler box using an APK I installed.

I actually had Peacock for a year on an Android TV box but was sharing a sub until the billpayer nixed it. It's just that I couldn't get payment to work when I tried signing up for my own account.

Not sure if Apple Pay would work if I want to use it on Android.

It's fine, there's comparison and per provider threads on all the new "streaming" TV offering from the likes of Sky, eir, VM etc. here:

Yes, crystal clear with zero glitches.

The dodgy boxes are fine most of the time, but during a big football match when everyone is watching ,as sure as night follows day, you will get a streaming pause during a critical moment and when it comes back on the team are celebrating a goal that you missed😂 you wont be happy, anyone who say this has not happened to them, you can disregard their opinion as they are liars.

Those advocating for cheaper legitimate streaming services from other countries, the reality is they too can be effected by glitches, you are using VPN's which can be hit or miss and streaming all the way from the other side of the world.

Dodgy boxes and legitimate services abroad with a VPN work fine most of the time, but you are taking a chance come the big football match.

What is perfect glitch free streaming of sport worth to you? Answer that and you will know is Sky stream is for you.

How do you pay for it? Does it accept Irish cards or does it need the same sort of workarounds as described for Peacock above?

Zero glitches wouldn't be my experience. Check out this thread for lots of experiences, good and bad.

There's a whole thread about getting subscription sport from foreign providers.

This season I've been watching the PL on Setanta Sports Ukraine for about €2.50 month plus the cost of the VPN which is next to nothing because I bought it through TopCashback.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭ooter

Haven't tried setanta ukraine yet cos I've struggled to get a working app for Android TV.

Was using fubo Canada today, it's more expensive but a really good service.

I downloaded a version of their app from Aptoide and it's working fine on my Firestick. All matches are in English, it's a great service.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,299 ✭✭✭ooter

    Thanks I'll check it out.

Generally speaking the dodgy boxes stop working properly during big PL matches because service providers here actively target them. It's not just the matches themselves that stop working, if you try to watch an EPCR game on TNT/BT/Premier sport or god forbid trying to keep your baby entertained with baby tv while Liverpool beat play United you might as well have a very heavy paperweight plugged into the back of your telly.

The reliability of legit services from abroad very much depends on the strength of these services. I've seen good deals on here from the Philippines, Ukraine and North America. Something as common as a power cut or a Russian missile could knock either of the first 2 out and generally the internet wouldn't quite be as strong in these places

Last 3 PL seasons I've been using Turkey, Indonesia and now Ukraine. They've all been rock solid. The main risk is that they start blocking VPNs - I did sign up for Pakistan service Begin this year (at €4 for the year!) but not many of the VPN providers have a Pakistan server and Begin have started blocking the ones that have.

€10 for a shared Now account is actually decent value for a service that isn't going to be disrupted by VPN or ISP issues, though one of the benefits of the foreign services is that they show every single match, which Sky/Premier do not.

Typically 20 seconds for regular channels however there is a low latency version of Sky Sports Main Event in HD and UHD that allows you to see goals before Livescore etc. send an alert to your phone.

oh cool that would make me consider it.

Current Black Friday deal on Sky satellite package will be up soon so will need something new.
