    Hi,

Looking for some course recommendations for a trip to the Costa del sol in mid March. Planning on playing 4 or 5 courses. We will be staying in Mijas and will rent a car. Willing to travel up to an hour if needs be to play a course.

There is only 2 of us going and both mid teens handicaps. Long off the tee but can be a bit wild 😁 so maybe nothing too tight or tree lined.

    Thanks,

    Bener

Atalaya, La Cala, Los Naranjos, Santa Clara, Chaparral, Miraflores to name a few in around there. Atalaya being the furthest away but decent value for money.

A bit further away is almenara which is a good price. If you want to splash out and would be willing to drive try one of the hacienda courses.

This one is a question of budget as much as anything.

Finca Cortesin is a short drive and a bucket list kind of course. 50 mins to an hour west brings in a golden corner of Spain golf (I’m going on hearsay here) in the form of Valderama and San Roque and Sotogrande.

I’ve played Santana and thought it was lovely, a good honest and unusually flat track. You could walk it from La Cala if you were that way inclined and at a push).

I’d avoid El Chapparal and Alhaurin based on what you’ve said above. Theme park golf. Though the latter has its own bizarre charm and the former a fantastic clubhouse.

I enjoy the 3 courses of La Cala (which are further past Santana) but they jam them in and then some. Truly a test of patience.

I was going to say count me in until I noticed ye actually want to play golf.

    Enjoy lads.
