Advice needed on hybrid masonry/log cabin house

    Hi,

I'm considering buying this house which is an unusual hybrid of standard brick and wooden structure. The house was built in the early sixties and seems in reasonable condition. The wood is red cedar and is not insulated inside; the walls are literally the thickness of the wooden planks.

I was wondering what my options are regarding the wooden structure to bring up the BER rating and improve the look of it. Is some form of exterior cladding an option here? I assume care would be need to be taken to allow the existing wood to breathe?

    Thanks for reading.

Looks to me to be a summer holiday home / chalet setup.

Are you considering buying to live in full time? If so then plan on spending a significant sum.

I would be seeking out the opinion of a professional before going any further.
