The Taylor Sheridan machine rolls on with a new series.

    Starts November 17th

Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, LANDMAN is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs. The new original drama series will star Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton. In addition to Thornton, the series stars Ali Larter (The Last Victim), Michelle Randolph (1923), Jacob Lofland (Joker 2), Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville), Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia), and Demi Moore (Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans). Jon Hamm (Mad Men) will star in a recurring guest role with Andy Garcia (Expendables franchise) and Michael Peña (End of Watch) also serving as guest stars.

Could be great but some really poor stuff. What was point of introducing a tight knit crew (with good, well known actors) and then kill them off in the first episode? And the daughter… I mean what an unnecessary character, and her script….Good grief it's utter cringe.

It feels like a show targeted solely to the MAGA audience. Macho men and scantly clad women strutting around the place titillating old men.

I was puzzled with the deaths too. 2 extremely well known actors already gone. Favour for the show runners?

Anyway, I'll keep watching, daughter is annoying, but the family aspect is part of Billy Bobs character and they have to get Ali Larter iinto the texan scenes.

Maybe Spoilers should be put on the title, but why read this if you haven't watched it yet.

My only hope is that there are flashback episodes or something to get the Mexican guys back in, their day to day grind was the best part of the show for me. BBT claims he was their friend so hopefully that means something and he worked with them before, hence why his son ended up on that crew.

Otherwise a total waste of great acting talent!

Sheridan did the same thing on Mayor of Kingstown killing off a big name star in the opening episode.

Yeah I feel sorry for the actress playing the daughter. What a terrible character and adds nothing, so far, to the show. I think Taylor Sheridan has a thing for blondes, he nearly has one in each of his shows. Thornton is such a good actor though, so will keep watching.

Taylor Sheridan starts these shows with a death or Cliffhanger type situation if you have watched both episodes of Landman you can see how what has happened will grossly affect the main character and the sole survivor of the event going forward, take Mitch in Mayor of Kingstown for example he is in episode one yet his influence is still being felt at the end of season three.

In shows like this there is a rule character death looms large and is often not for nothing.

Yeah. I felt it was a bit much to be so overtly sexualising a purported 17 year old, even though I'm sure the actress is older than that. Maybe she'll have some kind of more interesting arc as the show goes on but so far the character is a bit pointless.

Thought I was going to be able to get stuck into this but only one episode available on prime for me.

Not a great third episode. Billy bob deserves to have better writing than this.

Jon hamm a good side character so far him losing his temper with Tommy(Billy Bob) makes me think he's a right evil ducker

Billy Bob is just playing the character so understated yet he dominates every scene.

    Master of the Universe

I was enjoying it a lot until the daughter and wife took up more screen time. Completely changed the show, feels more like a soap opera now. Half way through episode 4 I just went 'nope, this is crap' and gave up.

If it wasn't for Thornton I wouldn't bother watching, Sheridan has struck gold, I don't get the appeal with any of his shows.

Awe your missing out. Just skip them if they annoy you. You missing a great show. They are a bit thick and dumb alright. I do however find them funny.

I think he is trying to write them as rich white trash. It just comes off as boring. I guess Demi Moore is going to appear more in future episodes. If not I don't know why they hired her just to be in the background.
