Redrawing boundaries

Just wondering if anyone knows how long the process of getting boundaries redrawn takes? We're buying a site and the boundaries on the map are wrong and need to get redrawn. Everyone is in agreement about who owns what land and there's no drama but it seems like getting the maps redrawn, by a quantity surveyor maybe? will take months.

I thought it would be straightforward?

Does the person redrawing the maps submit to the land registry and is that the delay or does that happen after by a solicitor?

You or your solicitor needs to engage a professional such as a land surveyor, engineer, architect, technician etc (not a quantity surveyor) and when the survey and mapping is completed your solicitor then lodges the various documents including the maps. Depending on how busy people are the survey and mapping would normally be done in 3 - 6 weeks.

Thanks. So the solicitor sends it to the land registry?

Does a physical survey need to be done when no one is disputing the change and its just a matter of redrawing the map? Its literally just moving a boundary as far as a road.

Yes, the solicitor looks after all the Land Registry documents.

Without knowing the exact details its possible that a survey may not be necessary . However a visual inspection would need to be done in any event as the "mapper" has to stand over the revisions to the map.
