The race for the WCC and WDC is getting interesting with every race. McLaren looks to be improving all the time we all saw how Lando dominated the race at Zandvoort with his flying car. Max and Red Bull will be desperate to make a strong comeback this weekend and we are hoping to see some great racing at Monza. Apart from the racing action, there will be many trackside events and activities happening throughout the weekend to keep the fans entertained so if you are going to attend the Italian GP this weekend, you should be a part of these events to make the most of your trip to Monza Circuit.

Interesting about Colapinto. He has a decent season in Formula 2, nothing exceptional, so not sure if this will be good or bad for Williams. But I guess they have to try something...

Typo with his surname (mistake by F1 not the team according to Kym). Everyone makes mistakes I guess. 😁

Video of the crash here. Looks very unstable as soon as he hit the brakes!

Sounds like the drivers really are not happy with the changes made to the track. They’ve reprofiled some of the corners but they’ve also removed a lot of the kerbs.

Drivers seem to think the overall challenge that Monza used to have will be gone now.

I bet that wouldn't happen to a Merc AMG safety car :PAC:

FP1 red flagged, Antonelli binned it into the barrier.

After watching F1 consistently since it first appeared on RTE 30 odd years ago, I'm finally attending my first Grand Prix!! I'm at the exit of the parabolica/start of the home straight.

    Here's Antonelli's wrecked car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,533 ✭✭✭NinjaTruncs

    Technically it's Russell's wrecked car :)

    @dastardly00 - very nice enjoy!
Thought Antonelli would have been in Hamilton’s car, probably already prearranged.

Last weekend of Formula 3 and <edit> Alex topped the group B qualifying times and I think lines up P2.

    This too shall pass.

That’s a slam dunk unsafe release by McLaren.

    What was KMag at?

Colapinto did very well to keep it it still in on the track.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,346 ✭✭✭PsychoPete

No question about that unsafe release for Mclaren. Could have been very nasty for Colapinto and Kmag

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,797 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Well Kmag wasn’t moving that fast but sainz had something similar earlier in the session.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,481 ✭✭✭✭flazio

I just wonder if KMag picked up a load of dust from Coca Cola which ruined his car.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,797 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

This could be an unreal Q3 with the track ramping up.

That's my nickname for Williams new driver Franco Colapinto. Hey I tried and failed to make Beanz be the nickname for Heinz Harold Frentzen back in the day.

lock out of the first front rows for the top four teams as it stands.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,797 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

So max had a moment which would explain his low spot.

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,724 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Come on Max, second row would be acceptable.

Crazy how much the season has swung in Mclarens favour but Verstappens RedBull looks like it's all over the place

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 10,724 Mod ✭✭✭✭Andrew76

Yeah he got a slight tow on the straight into Parabolica too. Car is a mess atm. Worrying times.

Any repercussions for Piastri after the unsafe release?

Answering my own question. €10K fine, no grid penalty.

Still reckon Russell will be leading end of lap 1.

    This too shall pass.

The RedBull is nowhere as strong or dominant. I guess in previous years, Checo was a good driver in great car. Given where the car is now, theres no hiding. We all know Max is a phenomenal driver and I have no doubt he's extracting every ounce he can from the car.

I don't Zak Brown gets enough credit for the job he has done in McClaren in recent years. He has made very smart (and tough) decisions at important times. They have been progressing solidly.

I think newey must have sung like a canary as soon as he knew he was leaving as their special features were immediately discovered and had to be removed.

I know Pierre Wache was quick the claim the car as his own earlier so would be very satisfying for Newey to see it go backwards as soon as he left the team.

Something to do with brake cooling I think. J remember vagily sering something about it.

Anyway whatever it was the FIA had Red Bull remove it,

They said on sky today specifically that nobody believes red bull were running the brake thing that has been banned (which was already banned but FIA reiterated it).

But has the red bull gotten worse lately or is it that McLaren et al have gotten better and overtaken it? It seems worse than it was, but maybe they're just chasing the gap now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,766 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

I thought it was generally agreed that they had been running the laterally adjustable braking up to about 5 races ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,766 ✭✭✭✭mickdw

The braking system that applied brakes unevenly to aid turn in to corners and also as suggested by Ant Davidson, to reduce oversteer by braking the opposite rear wheel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,635 ✭✭✭✭Frank Bullitt

That was a loophole for next year apparently that was closed off, I am assuming it’s the bilateral braking system.

Seems like Red Bull are just all over the place, perhaps this is the wind tunnel limits actually coming into bite them.
