Cars from Singapore.

    Greetings from England,

Having imported cars from Singapore into the UK, just wondering if anyone knows of an outlet for me to get such cars into Ireland.

For example, I can get this Volvo V40 to the Port of Dublin for €4,780 (providing the exchange rate doesn't fluctuate greatly).

This 'fully inclusive' price includes Singapore de-registration, dock storage, insured RORO shipping, airmailed documents, Certificate of Conformity - and my fee.!

As will be seen, everything in the car is in English, and the low mileage is in kilometres. Even the radio frequencies are the same.!

The 'estimated' VRT is €3,607 and a breakdown of this figure can be seen in the images; from the website URL below (As a new user I can't insert the links directly.)

Other European cars are readily available, and I only deal with cars of around 10-years old; and mileages up to 80,000 km.

A video is available from here : https://vimeo.com/1001915785

and Images are available from here : https://t.ly/DGcYM

    (Both are best viewed full-screen.)

Thanks for any interest you may have, or advice you can offer.

    Tony Dawson.

They were imported in mid 00's into ireland but would imagine Japan cheaper

Done Deal is a popular place for advertising cars for sale.

The VRT rate applicable is a question for revenue

Guy that did some building for me, back in the boom, imported some Toyota Hilux with a big petrol engine.. cus he was a fly by night Harry, with money to burn, cos it was the Celtic tiger.

Don't know if anyone else who's ever brought a car in from Singapore

It'sa bogey link he's provided and importing cars from Singapore seems a very strange idea…also no response since yesterday morning.…

I’ve imported several cars from Singapore. Its no different to importing a car from Japan. Not that strange if you know what your doing

I would provide more info to OP if they replied. I’m not entirely sure what they are asking

Surely choice and prices better in Japan

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,673 ✭✭✭User1998

Prices are about the same, higher spec in Singapore but much more choice in Japan. Shipping was a bit faster from Singapore.

Hi all, and thanks for comments.

The purpose of my posting is that I have access to low mileage, great condition, high-spec cars in Singapore; which I can get to Dublin at great rates - as per the example in my original message.

As User1998 has mentioned, if anyone can find an outlet for such vehicles, I am hoping to top-up my pension in conjunction with their assistance.

The two URL's are for an example Volvo V40, but as a newish user of Boards.IE the actual links can't be inserted. The 'bogey' link referred to is a "short URL".

    Thanks again,
    Tony.

Its not only VRT which will be payable, you will have to pay VAT and customs also at the point of entry to the EU. Have you factored that in?

I know there is an irish run company in Japan that imports cars into ireland but in general are irish dealers buying cars in Japan at auction through agents or are there companies in Ireland importing loads of cars and selling in the trade ?

We already import 10,000+ low mileage cars from Japan every year so your probably not going to be able to sell them here while sitting in the comfort of your home in the UK. Low mileage clean cars aren’t exactly rare here recently

Also the VRT is quite high on Singapore cars and has wiped out my entire profits in some cases.

Is it irish companies here importing aloud of cars and selling to the trade or are used car dealers just buying stock when needed through import agents ?

Both. AMCC in Swords sell to the trade or you can buy direct from Japan. I used AMCC before when I was low on stock and didn’t have any shipments due in

Brand new account, reads like AI wrote this, looking to shill cars or scam people, don’t engage with these posters. Report them and move on.

I don’t think it’s a scam to be honest. But if anyone wants to import the car directly themselves its available here without OP’s fee of €850. You just click buy now and pay via Paypal, and the car arrives at Dublin Port around 2 or 3 months later. No need for OP to act as a middle man.
