They are 4 for 4 on third down. The Irish need to do something about that or this is going to be a long night.

Important drive coming up here, need to respond before halftime as the Buckeyes get it first in the second half.

    Another poor drive from ND.

Leonard is slow to throw it and Ohio State know it. Ohio also reading our defense like a book, every time, man or zone, they're on it. And yet, I think a few adjustments here and we can do this.

21-7 Buckeyes, it's not looking good. A bunch of third down conversions again.

Terrible performance from ND all round, can't point to anything they've done well. Even that opening drive felt like fools gold at the time, just relying on a pretty small QB to run it wasn't a long term plan, and they've been outplayed since.

Why did they go for the field goal?

I've no idea, crazy call. Even if they made it, they have to realize they got that opportunity through a fluke, the defense haven't shown they can consistently stop Ohio State here. To take a field goal there was just a terrible call.

Having said that, they did just make a stop. But it feels too late. They need two two pointers as well. I'm other words, four TDs in a few mins. I just don't see it. Badly managed but they were looking for a miracle anyway. Ohio State are just too good for them, not sure how they lost that Michigan game.

Wonderful two point play there. I'm still.not believing they can do it.

Another third down conversion and that's that. So disappointing to give up so many third downs, it cost them the game.

Why is LeBron James there supporting the Buckeyes? He never went to college and he's from Akron which has a football team.

Well at least they fought to the end. The defense was disappointing though, I expected a lot more from them.

Hopefully they can get back there next year and win it.

Yeah there was a lot to be disappointed in but I admire the way they fought their way back into it. Mystified that they went for that field goal, whether they got it or not it was a crazy decision, but being realistic Ohio State deserved the win, they were the better team when it mattered on both sides of the ball, we were very disappointing especially defensively, we just couldn't stop them and it felt like no matter what we tried they were a step ahead of us (man coverage? QB gets the easy one. Zone? Tight end finds the space, just very clever and demoralizing for our guys).

I complained a lot about the structure of the college game, which I still think is fundamentally stupid, but I do like the expanded playoff, OSU are a better team than anyone else, and they wouldn't have been there today under the old systems. I think ND will thrive under the system too, and while today was a big setback, freeman has so much more progress to make. Finals are there for winning and there's no guarantees of another one any time soon, so no point in thinking about it any other way than a disappointment, but plenty to build on, and you never know, think the next few years could throw up the big one for them.

Only caught extended highlights today, couldn't match you die hards with real life and work comittments. I did manage to avoid rhw result though, and have to say that once it went 7-7 quickly I thought ND were going to struggle. They did hold on to Ohio's coat tails as best they could, but the Bucks were always able to come up with a big 3rd down when needed or a big defensive play. Smith seemed to hide until he was required for that big play late on.

I hadn't a dog in the fight as such, I thought Ohio made good use of their expensive and talented squad, and we're the best team overall. ND did well to reach the final and competed ok, I don't know how the roster will look next year but they have a lot to build on, and in Freeman seem to have a steady hand on the tiller.

Overall, I enjoyed the season, some random results, and the 12 team playoff worked out well. There are plenty of challenges ahead for the game and the NCAA to look at, how to control the flow of money and the transfers etc. All big questions that I'm not qualified to answer, but there seems to be a wider spread of talented players around the teams which makes the games less predictable and more enjoyable.

Have to do rmqotb that fuckin NFL for a few weeks now 🙄

Like the poster above, I couldn’t watch live. A pity about the Irish, having come so far. OSU were just superior on the day.

A fantastic season, and I think the 12 team play off, despite its scheduling issues (and a lot of that is dictated by not wanting to clash with the NFL) was a success.

That is the end of the current Sky deal, so let’s hope that come late August there will be somewhere to watch CFB and it won’t be like the beginning of the 2023 season where there was no broadcaster. And whoever does take over the rights does something about picking up the Big Ten - the days of the SEC being “the best games from the best conference” certainly wasn’t true this year.
