    Hi All,

Does anyone know if being mildly colour blind prevent you from joining An Garda Siochana? Or if anyone knows of colour blind Garda who have progressed into the job?

I have very recently undergone my medical.

What did the medical assessor say? Did he sign of that you were medically certified?

They never said anything, no indication of a pass or fail. All the rest of the test that were done came back perfectly fine.

it will probably go to the Garda chief medical officer and he will make a decision.

Does anyone know if you have high blood pressure, but its managed by medication to the accepted level, will you fail the medical because of it ?

    01pm

any1 called yet from this years selection. I heard that there was 3 lads in there 40s that started. Is this true?

Can anyone tell me if they can check your medical history with your doctor? I don't see anything on the medical form that explicitly gives them permission to do this. They ask for you GP's name and number but that's it?

I’m not sure if they can. But I wouldn’t fail to declare something, as it could come up at a later date . If you fail to declare something major and they find out , they might disqualify you , same for vetting.

Hi, I’ve been following other threads and some candidates from 2022 campaign only getting called to templemore now , I’ve been told approx 18 months before you get to templemore and that’s if you’re called , there’s hundreds of successful applicants.
if those 3 49yr olds did start maybe they were reserves already , but it’s definitely not the norm.
what I did Wonder was if you were oom 600 in 2022 campaign surely someone oom 20 in 2024 campaign would be called quicker….i just don’t know how it works

OOM only really gets your vetting started quicker. If the 2024 OOM 600 has his vetting done and all the boxes tickets and the 2022 guy is still waiting on checks , they’ll send in the 2024 guy to fill the intake.

On the day of your medical you’ll fill in more forms where you are asked to give permission for your own GP for disclosure.

Has anyone any idea of what blood pressure reading is deemed as too high in the medical. Like, if you are under 139/89, you should be ok.

    Hi everyone,

I recently passed my interview for a position with the Garda and am currently awaiting instructions for the vetting process. When I was younger, I was caught with drugs, but I wasn't convicted. I'm a bit concerned about how this might affect my application.

A while ago, I applied for the defense forces and successfully passed their vetting process without any issues. I'm wondering if the Garda vetting process is similar and if my past will impact my chances.

Has anyone been in a similar situation or have any insights on how this might play out?

Thanks in advance for any advice
