You know, some guy whose life mission is for every Toyota to reach a million miles with only maintenance performed in a driveway. Someone who runs a Repair Shop for old but well-treated cars rather than someone helping keep the crusher at bay one NCT retest at a time.

I have a 20 year old car that starts and shifts and drives and stops without any drama whatever the weather. It's had only the minimum maintenance over the years and has become a sort of heirloom (my dad had it from new). It suits me to keep it for weekly use and I'd rather pay for preventative maintenance than buy something nearly new with all the depreciation that entails. I might even keep it until it's a classic, tax-wise. However, getting it maintained is a bit of a bother. Everywhere I've brought it is only interested in dealing with an immediate issue: a brake caliper here, some rust there. I've been to two dealerships and three independents and have had NCT fails over things that should have been picked up in one service. I find that some people think that because you are fixing something old that you must be too stupid to earn enough to just drive something new and German.

One Toyota dealership hinted at some sort of deal for hobby maintenance of an old car but they also wanted to replace every wear item on the car (for more than it would ever be worth) and they wouldn't agree to do a service on its own. But they were pleasant to deal with and didn't charge for the vehicle health check.

So, is there anyone like ol' Scotty, ideally in west Dublin or east Kildare, who could take a look at everything while doing a service and perform some preventative maintenance like a transmission fluid refresh or replace some bushes or spray some underseal to keep a near-classic Toyota going without taking me for an eejit.
