Hi all, I put in 5 of these over the last few years, every one of them is leaking, I'm thinking I have to change the ballcock and valve in all of them. Checking if anyone else has any problems with them or if I have incorrect valve, maybe I need high pressure as water supply is from my own well

I have the jfc fast flow troughs here in places for about 3 years...no leaks

Had noticed occasional issues with the older ballcocks(not jfc) in that I have to replace the odd one or mess around with it occasionally....not sealing/closing off properly where the plunger presses against the plastic/rubber bedpiece...occasionally just a bit of grit/debris in the mechanism sometimes wear/age meaning it would never seal properly as the bed was worn down over the years

Did they all work perfectly for a while and then break down? ...im no expert but Id have thought if pressure was the issue you would see leaks even sooner??? Can you see exactly where leak is coming from? There's something wrong if all 5 leaking over a short time period...

Quick solution replace with concrete drinkers.

No worked fine for a few years, in about 10 years, it's dribbling a bit where the plastic plunger connects with the rubber, I did clean them out as there was debris and swapped the rubber bedpiece but still leaking, it's not serious hence why I have been ignoring it but enough to have constant wet patch around the trough. I have ordered replacements valve anyway, I'll take a picture as there's a rubber ring around the plastic plunger part, I can't fathom how they work, not like the old simple stop valve with the small outlet that pushes against rubber ring.

Yeah I fully intend to, I had just started so had a lot of expense with fencing, so water troughs were done on the cheap

Have a number of these drinkers. In one place they are working perfect. On another line kept leaking. Replaced ballcoks no difference.Used brass ballcocks no problem since. The only conclusion I came to was the line was about a mile long on half inch pipe, but the pressure was reasonable good.

not sure of the specific mechanism in the system but from what you write, the flow might actually have been low (half inch pipe a mile long), to cuase the valve to shut properly.

Check that O ring to see is there any nick in it. The problem otherwise is with the seat it sits into.

Was thinking similar myself...and tbh I prefer the plastic, lighter easier to move around and no problems either hhrm here to date if they have a solid base under them

Found several of them here have taken in water I'm the ballcock and thus won't close fully. Take off ballcock and drain the ball. Seal it up and put back on
